Question Adding a CD changer to stock system

I just got took delivery of my new 350Z Enthusiast. Love the car, Hate the stock audio system. The sound is adequate for now, I just wish it took more than one CD. Is it possible for me to add a cd changer to the stock headunt, or do I have to go completely aftermarket, in which case could sombody suggest a really nice looking headunit. Thanks

One more thing, while you have the system semi-disassembled, I would highly recommend putting some decent speakers in it.

After putting decent speakers in and having the 6 CD changer while maintaing the stock look, my guess is you will be satisfied and keep it this stereo setup without dropping a bundle of money.

Thanks for the reply Powerband, just a quick question, what speaker do you suggest I put in. I am not a super audiophile or anything, though I have to admit that my 2000VW Jetta had a much much much better sounding system than this car. I can figure out how to take the stuff apart form the how to thread, or just have them installed, do you think that just adding the speakers will do the trick?

Almost anything is better than those near garbage stock speakers. The only thing you should consider is not getting speakers that need a good amp pushing them. Some Kenwood Dual Mags would work pretty well. You are better off doing a little research on your own though because I am not an audiophile by any means.

I've been pretty pleased with the Infinity Reference 6002i speakers (front and rear).

They are cheap - $89/pair - and seem to do well off the deck power.

Zaph-
Did you use the i or the si model? The si's are supposed to be shallower. I wondering if you still need a spacer with either of these?

Thanks.

I used the i model. Interesting about the shallow version, I didn't know about that.

The "spacer trick" is real easy though, and it lets you plug your new speakers in using factory wiring.

Thanks, Zeph

How much of an improvement did it make to the stock system?

GREAT improvement - especially once I added the basslink.
