Question Is "K" band radar a possible non-threat?

I just got my Passport 8500 on Friday and have since been driving around trying to "find" things to set it off. I have read that the "X" band is mostly used for automatic doors at stores and Security systems so a majority of the time, it is not a threat, but what about "K" band?? I ask because I drive by a few buildings everyday (not near each other) and when I get about 300 feet from them I get a low "K" reading all the way until I am past them. No matter what time of the day it is, it's always there. I thought that only "X" was a non-threat, but this makes it seem like "K" is bogus too? Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Trains also use a radar system to measure speed over ground, it tells the computer if the wheels are slipping. Not sure what band it's in. I know VA does not use K band speed radars any longer, so I have turned it off on my V1.

Question

Hmmmmm... the only thing that I can come up with is that they use "K" band for the security system of the buildings that set off the radar detector. There are no buses or railroad tracks anywhere near the buildings when the radar goes off. Sometimes at 1:00 or 2:00 AM.

My friend received a K band threat from his Passport 8500. Turned out to be an officer on a Motorcycle.

Many of those stupid highway signs that send out a radar signal with a text message are K band I believe. They are picked up by ANY detector but only the ones that are equipped for the text can see the messages they send out. Also, there are a lot of those "your speed is" things out there on the side of the road (especially near construction zones) and those are also K.

Well, I'm 100% sure that there are no police around when I get the K signals by the buildings. Sometimes as I drive down the highway I'll get a K signal that is about 50% in strength and then slowly goes away. I guess I'll just have to learn what does what. I have driven by one of those "Your speed is" signs and yes, it does set of the K warning. A trick that I saw a cop do just yesterday was sit on a sidestreet about 100 feet in front of the sign with his radar off. He could plainly see the radar sign so he must have just been waiting till he got a "speeder" then turned on the disco lights and went after them. I did'nt see him pull anyone over, but it seemed like a pretty sneaky idea.

The times that your radar goes off for awhile at about 50% (K band) and then goes off are often from those signs on the OTHER side of the road that you can't see. If you use the Valentine One, you know this since the arrows show the signal in front of you at first, then at your side, then behind you as you pass the sign.
