Default Installing 06-08 Bose headunit/speakers/sub to a Non-Bose Z

I did a quick search and couldn't find nothing on this...

I have a 2008 non-bose Z and I'm looking to buy a Bose 6cd mp3 head unit from a fellow forum member... he would also ship the stock bose speakers and subwoofer to me. I am not sure if he has the amp as well, I sent him PM on this but for now we'll assume that he does not.

What would I need in order to fit this Bose headunit in my car? Would it be a PITA to install? Also, doesn't the Bose subwoofer go in between the seats? Does non-bose Z even have a spot for the subwoofer to be installed in? Any help on this would be appreciated

This also has been bothering me. I would like to replace just the stock HU with the bose one. I found one on ebay that has an aux port on the front as well. Is this possible? Do you need an amp? and lastly, how the hell do you do it? Would pay someone in the denver area..

Really?

The Bose is more than a HU and speakers is has some kind of amp in the back next to the spare that will need to be wired.
The sub fits behind the driver and yes there is a place.

But seriously, no matter what you do, it is still gonna sound mediocre at best. Your time and money are better spent on a half way decent aftermarket setup.

Agreed. Don't waste your time, guys! You have heard it referred to as the "BLOSE" system, right? Don't go the cheap route on your sound install. Do the proper research, save your money, and buy quality pieces. Otherwise you are going to be extremely disappointed.

My buddy has a 3.5 Altima with stock BOSE system and it actually sounds pretty good. Does Nissan use the same exact components across their product line or are the speakers in the 350Z specifically for the 350Z?

trust everyone when they tell you it is not worth the trouble to convert to the stock Bose system. it is very disappointing with regards to performance. i wish it came as an option on Touring models and not standard so i could have saved some cash towards an aftermarket system.

First off, the BOSE system is a joke. DUAL can make better sounding speakers. (In the Z anyway).

Second... the BOSE setup consists of:
Headunit
Front Speakers and tweeters
Rear speakers
subwoofer
subwoofer amp
speaker amp

Hmm, well my wife's 03 Pathfinder with bose has muddy bass, weak mid range and no highs to speak of. On top of that, the vacuum florescent display has two segments that don't light when its cold. If she cared, I would rip that stuff out and run it over.

The only benefit you will get from putting in the BOSE is the factory look. I have it in mine and it's good enough for a weekend toy, but I would not spend any amount of money to purchase and install it.

Default installing sub into non-Bose Z...

Can anyone offer tips on how to install a sub into a non-Bose / non-sub-having Z? I found the mounting bracket at courtesyparts.com. I'm wanting to have a sub installed without losing any of the small but precious room in the back hatch, and without the sub being visible to would-be theives. Couple questions though...
  1. Anyone done this before?
  2. What size is the Nissan-installed Bose sub?
  3. Any recommendations on where to put the amp?
  4. Lastly, because I haven't yet pulled the door panels, what size are the door speakers in an '07 non-Bose Z?

Thanks in advance for any help or info.

why would you pay money to buy the stock system and install it? just buy an aftermarket sub and amp and just do the 2 front component speakers and turn the balance all the way up to the front you don't need to worry about the rear speakers it sounds way better and you save some money
