Default No Radio Reception!!

Hey guys, I need some help!

Girlfriend got me the Alpine Tua-t550 HD Radio Tuner. I attempted the install myself and to my surprise the radio reception was horrible! My radio reception was great prior to install. So, after two days of trying to figure out what's wrong with the damn thing I decided to undo the install and return everything to how originaly was.

The antenna cable is now hooked up straight to the headunit (Alpine Iva-w505) like before. Now.. I have no radio reception at all!!

I tried checking the fuse under the kick panel, the audio fuse, seems fine.
I also check for the antenna power cable, seems to be hooked up fine..

Could anyone shine some light as to what could of happened or what to look for?

The Z's antenna is powered - it has a built-in amplifier. If you didn't wire it properly when doing the harness, then no, you'll get no radio reception. (Is that what you meant by "antenna power cable"?)

Yeah.. there was this green/white wire sticking out of the antenna cable from the car.

Seemed to be connected.. in the morning I guess I'll try some cutting and wiring straight to the battery and see what happens..

I cut and wired the antenna cable directly to the battery and still no reception.

Is there an inline fuse or relay to the antenna?

I'm in a little late here but this cable should just be part of your harness. It might be called "Ant Pwr" or something like that, but assuming you got a '95+ Nissan wiring harness there is a corresponding wire to attach it to. I am thinking that if you are pulling wires from anywhere else you might be wasting your time.

Oopps... I just realized the fact your factory radio gets no signal just blows the faulty soldering theory out of the water... Sounds like the jack may be damaged, did you yank it by the cord or the rubber? It was hard as hell for me to unplug my antenna jack from the factory radio, I can totally see how this could easily get damaged...

I pulled it a bit trying to hook it up straight to the HD tuner..

If the jack is indeed damaged, how could this be fixed or replaced?

So I got around tearing the trunk apart to access the antenna and I found a small 2"x1.5" metalic box emblemed by Clarion and a model no. EP1165LC. Can someone please tell me what this is? It has a plug on one side and that wire goes towards the cabin and on the other side of the box it has an antenna jack connecting to the car antenna.

I'm guessing it's either a signal amplifier or signal converter?.. i dunno, when I have a chance I'll post a picture.
