Default Urgent help! Installed components and amp and no sound!

I just finished installing a JL 300/2 and CDT 6.5 front components. I turned the car on, and no sound from the front. Heres what I did: RCAs from amp to HU, remote wire from amp to HU, power from battery to amp, grounded the amp, speaker wire to the crossover from the amp, speaker wire from crossover to speaker and crossover to tweeter. I have NO sound from the front. I also disconnected the front left positive and negative and the front right positive and negative from each other on the HU and vehicle harness. I dont know where I went wrong.
There Is another black wire coming off my HU harness that says amplifier ground, but I dont think that has anything to do with it. The amp doesnt turn on either when I turn the key even though the remote turn on is connected.

The RCAs go from front output in the back of the HU to the output on the amp.
Any help is appreciated

Since the amp isn't turning on, double check the amp ground and make sure that the amp is connected to the remote wire. After it turns on, plug in an ipod directly to the amp if there's still no sound.

I grounded the amp to a spot inside the cubby on the right side. There were two screws, and I sanded down the area and screwed it there. The remote wire is connected and the amp wont turn on.
Mike what do you mean?

You should go and buy yourself a cheap volt meter. Check that all the lines are powered when they're suppose to be. Then check ground continuity on all your ground wires. If your amp isn't turning on, then it's a power/ground issue, problem with the remote turn on, or the amp is toast. BTW, did you check the fuses?

Basically what he said:

Where is your amp mounted? If near the hatch, sand down underneath the child restraint hook right behind the bulkhead (behind where the rear speakers are, under the trunk mat). Most problems I have encountered in my limited install experience have come from poor ground points.

As for troubleshooting: Check your wires for any tears in the insulation, as they may be grounding out somewhere. Disconnect everything from the amp but the power, ground, and remote turn on. Turn on the car: does the amp power up? If no, you have either a power or ground issue, or you have the remote turn on lead connected to the wrong wire behind your head unit. OR, if when you use a voltmeter and find the voltage to be constant from the battery to ground, you have an amp issue.

If the amp powers on, next connect your RCA's and start the car. Does the amp power on? If not, it's your RCA's.

If the amp powers on, next connect the crossovers (with just the inputs from the amp). Start the car. Does the amp power on? If not, it's your crossovers.

See where this is going? Test each wire until you find the breaking point. That's where your issue will be.

Pulled out RCAs and speaker wires and still doesnt turn on. I will be checking the volts later today. Where is the fuse located on the JL 300/2?

According to the owners manual, you need a 40 amp fuse mounted within 18" of the positive battery terminal. Make sure your fuse isn't blown.

But yeah, it is either a ground issue, power issue, remote turn on, or the fuse is blown.

haha listen to this
I finally go and actually pull out the fuse in the fuse holder for the power wire
after inspecting it, the metal strip that runs through the middle was snapped, i think what happend was I wiggled it when I was installing the wires on each end and it snapped because it moves a little side to side
I just have to find it now, came up empty at advance auto and autozone...would radio shack carry this fuse? its not your normal 2 prong fuse..
