Getting ready to order.. last minute supplies?
I'm about ready to place my system order:
From Crutchfield:
Alpine iDA-x305 w/ KCE-400BT
(Comes with Dash kit and Harness free - this is the Metra stuff, correct?)
From Knukonceptz:
Complete 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit
eBay or elsewhere:
Alpine MRV-F345 Amp
JL XR-650 CSi Components
I'm not sure if I need to order a spacer.. if anyone knows, do tell me.
Other than that - what supplies do I need? I want to have everything with me when I start this install. Tools, wire connectors (what kind..), etc..?
I know I need a solder gun, wire cutters/crimping tool (but I don't know what crimp connectors to get), and a panel removal tool..
Do I need self-tapping screws? I see them mentioned often but I don't know if they are included with the parts..
And thank you to everyone helping me so much on all these questions I've had the last few weeks. I've gone from wanting an installer to do this, to myself feeling (semi) confident I can do it. This should be interesting.

Depends. Where are you mounting the crossovers?
I think I got 25 feet and was left with about 5 if that and I mounted mine in the doors but im moving them to the passneger glove box.
I have 40' coming for when I switch them to the glove box.

Heres what I did: Bought X amount of speaker wire. Ran speaker wire through the center console to the passenger and driver door FROM the amp. I drilled a hole where the rubber molding pulls up and ran the wire through thhere instead of the molex. I connected each speaker wire to the INPUT on the crossover. Then run speaker wire from the terminals on the speaker to WOOFER on the crossover. The tweeter will already have wire coming from it. If it will reach, thats fine. Run that to the MAIN TWEETER on the crossover. If you have questions on what I did if you want to do it my way, pm me or IM me on aim - jumpmanbsktbll

I have read that running wire through the molex is the only reliable way of getting wire into the door - not true? That is why I was going to use the harness that is already there for the stock speakers (unless it doesn't exist and I'm nuts)

I'm in the same boat as dingo so I'm subscribing to this thread
I was also told to get plastic pins that attach panels to the car as they are very easy to break... they can be obtained at any auto store from what I heard... but I have no idea which pins they are exactly lol.

Hey guys, you really need to read over this page: http://www.bcae1.com/installationprimer.htm, as it answers nearly all of your questions in regards to wiring, crimping, soldering etc.
Crutchfield's dash install kit comes with the correct HU harness, yes. If you order your speakers from them, they give you the correct speaker harness too.
Can you see your speaker wires when you open your door?
