Default Impedance and Bridging

Hi guys, it's been a while since I dealt with a sub setup.

I'm adding 2 10" subs to my ZR with the trunk box ( http://www.zenclosures.com/Nissan_35.../zroadster.htm )

I want to add some decent bass, but I can't remember how the impedance rules go. If I get 2 4ohm subs and bridge them, I need a 2ohm stable amp, right? And if I get 2 2ohm subs and bridge them, I'll need a 1ohm stable amp?

Is bridging still recommended for maximum output?

Here are the subs I'm considering:

Kenwood KFC XW1022D (or the 4+4ohm version...)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Kenwood-KFC-XW10...3%3A1|294%3A50

Kenwood KFC W2511
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-KENWOOD-KFC-W2...3%3A1|294%3A50

Or maybe even this whole package:

I'm at a loss on amps. I don't remember the whole peak vs RMS argument anymore...

Recommendations? Thanks in advance!!

depends how you wire them

2x 4ohm subs can be 2 or 8 ohms

2x 2ohm subs can be 1 or 4 ohms

First of all, you can't bridge a subwoofer. You can bridge an amp, but only a two channel amp, not a mono amp. You can wire subwoofers in either a series or in parallel depending on voice coil configuration and your desired impedance. Here is a wiring tutorial for dvc subs http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161. Also, out of the subs you listed, I would recommend the KFC XW1022D.

And regarding you amplifier power question, just match the RMS rating of your subs to the RMS rating of the amp and be sure to have your gain set correctly. But, make sure the amp produces that RMS power at the impedance in which you plan to run your subwoofers.
