installing bose base / amp in non-bose 03 car
I'll be getting the 2003 w/ the non-bose system. I'm thinking of buy a bose sub / amp and installing it in the car.
First off, can I do that? Would it be as easy as just plug-n-play?
Tx

Guess I'm first to see this post so I'll go easy on you LOL.
I don't think it will work as Bose sound systems run on non-standard resistances and voltages. It will not be plug-and-play with a non-Bose system and most likely the volume will be too low AND it will sound horrible.
Even if it did work...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't spend good money on anything Bose. Bose made good car audio back in the 80's but it has been crap ever since. Take that money and buy ANYTHING else sound-wise. I have the "Blose" system in my Touring and it truly sucks teh big donkey ball (just one cuz it's that bad). I bought M-Audio x-30 in-ear monitors and use my iPod...much better than the sad sad sound of the Blose system. Your much better off buying good gear off ebay or from the marketplace here than putting anything Bose in your car. Bad quality and poor fidelity. If you read more of the Audio section, everyone is trying to REMOVE the Blose from their cars. WOW, was that a rant? Yes, yes it was. But for good reason. I predict there will be 256 others that will read this and tell you the same story.
I saw some JL subs and nice amps the the audio marketplace for a good price. This is a much better alternative.
