Default New head unit installed with bose speakers/amp

I just put in a JVC double din head unit in a 2003 touring. The system sounds slightly better than it did with the blose head unit, but it is still sub-par. I am debating whether to look into installing some sort of detuning adapter versus swapping out the front speakers (turning off the rears) and going all after market.

Any thoughts?

I just replaced my blose HU with the kenwood ddx 712. Slight improvement in sounds. Lost ability to adjust bass except with the preset EQ's (rock, rap, etc...)

Sub, comps, and amps are in my future. I'm going to do the sub first. Comps later

Wanna know what's holding you back? The Blose speakers/amps.

if you really want to try keeping your stock bose speakers, you should look into the PAC ROEM-NIS2 (search this forum for more info). it matches the output of your aftermarket headunit to the bose amp. some will say you don't need it but i've had my aftermarket both with and without it and you do have to crank the volume more without it. my advice though...keep your headunit and look at replacing the front speakers and put in a sub and power them with a new amp. that's what i ended up doing and its so much better now. the bose stuff in the Z really is lacking. good luck regardless.

i don't think that you will get as much improvement in sound by changing the HU as you would get buy changing the speakers / amp.
