Default just got me a z, some audio ideas

Hey guys, just got a brand new 2008 350z yesterday, and i pulled all of my audio equipment out of my mazda3 that i sold. Anyways, my z is pretty barebone inside, and im lookin to get a navi system deck. I saw the threads about the pioneer avic f700bt install, and i had a few questions.

First, where are some good places to find the avic700 at a good price online besides ebay? I trust ebay for smaller items like speakers, but i would rather get a navi system from an actual online store... any ideas?

Second question is, how good is the avic700? Any recommendations for other headunits in the price range? I really dont want to spend too much more than this on the avic.

Third question... I know 6.5" speakers fit on the z, but i heard that Alpine Type-R 6.5" components dont fit without hitting the window. I have a set of SPR-17LS.... do i need a different set? If so, which ones do you recommend that have soft soft tweeters?

Fourth question: I checked the link for the how-to on taking apart the dash, and the link doesnt work....

Edit: one last question, does anyone have any specs for a ~1.0 cubic foot sealed subwoofer box for a 12" sub that would fit under the bridge thingy in the trunk? Im gonna build myself a box here soon.

Thanks!

www.crutchfield.com has alot of info for research, but try www.woofersetc.com, [url]www.onlinecarstereo.com[url] , www.sonicelectronix.com there are plenty out there you just have to do some searching

I am in this same spot. From my research it seems the pioneer systems (at least the double din nav ones) may not fit quite as tightly in the trim ring as some of the other brands, so keep that in mind. I do think you are going to have to get new speakers for the doors.

Ive been reading reviews about these Pioneer units... seems like people are having some trouble with their boot times and random freezes/overall performance of their units.

Anyone chime in on this that has pioneer avic's?

Also, how are the Kenwood DNX5120's?

I've heard nothing but good things about the kenwood units.

Currently i have an AVIC-D3

I love the unit it fits like a dream. make sure you get the metra doubledin dash kit for the 06+ because thats the better design. Also to make the unit sit more flush you have to drill new holes into the factory bracket then it looks perfect

Do you have a sound system hooked up to your avic? If so, how well does the avic function as a headunit for the aftermarket system?

How to's for various things include Center Console removal

https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-v...z-how-tos.html

For Door speaker issues - you can get spacers from zenclosures Also, nice door pods from wickedcas

In the past I used tin snips to cut the cheap factory speakers out of the molded factory frames, then mounted by 6.5"s on those and it worked great.

I don't have eveything hooked up yet, but the interface is incredibly easy to use and control. If you are aiming more towards sound quality I wouldnt reccommend this unit considering it only has 2volt pre-outs. If you are looking for more sound qaulity oriented head units the I would look at the Kenwoods or Eclipse units.

whats the difference between the 700bt, 90bt and 900bt? Besides the obvious dvd playback ability of the 900bt, i have no idea what the difference is!

700bt = no dvd drive, but can use flash drive or ipod for videos
900bt = dvd playback
90bt = dvd playback with ipod cable, and hi-volt preamp output

thanks man. Does anyone have any information on which speakers will fit in the Z? Specifically, will a set of Alpine SPR-17LS Component 6.5" speakers fit without hitting the window if i use a 3/4 MDF spacer?

Do i have to have a shallow speaker?

I hear the kenwood DNX5120 has better navigation(garmin) than the pioneer and is overall a better system.

The best prices I've found has been searching vendors through amazon.com
