Default Pioneer AVH P4100 - anyone own one for a Z yet?

Hi - I'm looking to get a new h/u. Anyone installed the Pioneer P4100 onto their Z yet? Any input and pics would be helpful.

Would it fit a Z as is, or would we need a metra kit for it?

Thanks for the help fellas...

just installed one in my buddies Z actually. Very Very awesome unit. Great for pretty much anything. It's got some pretty good controls for the audio, easy to kinda tune in every aspect of the system seperately instead of every selection adjusting every single speaker @ once.

i just installed the 3100 which is the baby, 5.8 inch screen, sister of the 4100. Love the unit so far and you will need the metra kit to fill in the gaps... i'm starting a new thread with a mini review of it and pics...

Thanks for the response all. SilverZ, do you know if we also need the metra kit for the p4100? Would you be able to post some nice quality pics...i'm sure it would help a lot of us. Thanks a lot man.

DragonFire, thanks for the input my brother. I'm eager to see your installation...

if im not mistaken you need the metra kit for this too.. and it should be exactly the same install process as the 3100, or the older 4000(which i think there are a few thread of)

i plan on getting the 4100 too later on..

I am planning on buying the 4100 soon. Has anyone tried bypassing this unit yet? On my old 7500DVD all I had to do was ground the parking brake wire but I have a feeling the newer models will not be that simple...

does that mean the bypass procedure is the same as the 3100? I'll be getting one of these in a couple weeks when i'm back in the country.

The switch thing sounds extremely annoying...anyone have any experience with the "bypass module" sold on ebay? Sounds like it fully automatic an well worth it for $35 or so.

All you need for the bypass is an automotive relay...thats all the eBay "bypass chip" is.

the switch is annoying but its the way ive always done it so i stick with it...i had an avic d3 where the bypass was done by grounding the gyro but that option obviously isnt available on the dvd units...its all good though it works for me

Yeah, back up to $430 something again on amazon..waiting until closer to $400 again... Found the wiring diagram for bypass using the relay for the 4100 on avic forums of all places... looks simple enough and well worth the extra 15 minutes...

My first post here
I just installed the 4100 last week. Yes u do need the metra kit. I took a spst switch from radioshack to make my bypass for the dvd. It actually looks rather stealthy. I got pics if u guys want them.
