Default Pioneer/Alpine/Kenwood??

Hey guys I'd like to install a double din head unit in my 2003 enthusiast 350. I'm def a noob but was looking for a good unit for my car. I'd like it to be able to take usb sticks so I could play mp3's and hopefully divx off of that. GPS would also be nice as well.

I know many ppl like Alpine for its supposed better quality over Pioneer (maybe not Kenwood). I've been reading on here and the Pioneer units seem to be very customizable which I like (avic). I was looking at the alpine units too which look very good. Kenwood was looking at the dnx8120 and the ddx812 (or ddx814).

I guess all in all I'm looking for a unit with a nice screen (good res), usb inputs (plays mp3 off usb stick as well as divx or other media), and is somewhat customizable...GPS would be nice but I guess is not totally necessary. My price range is around $600...If you could suggest anything...that would be awesome!

I've got a Kenwood that I REALLY like. iPod, Garmin nav, DVD, Bluetooth, etc, etc,

Nazar (sponsor) has a couple of deals going right now for the brand new models. These two are in the absolute high-end, but it gives you an idea of what is available and he's a great seller.

Thanks for the info...I was looking at those earlier as well...I think those are out of my price range even with the discount...I was looking for something around $600 ..Max 700 price range. Wish I could find a Kenwood DDX814 for around that price..but probably not gonna happen

I'm in the audio biz, and I recommend Pioneer all the way. They are far more whored out than Kenwood and Alpine, but they do everything they're meant to and tend to be a little cheaper than the other big names. I've had far less problems with Pio than any other brand.

As the previous post mentions, the AVIC-F900BT (v2) is the best bang for the buck if you're looking for 2DIN nav. You can pick them up for well under a $1,000 (I've seen specials as low as $650) and they do EVERYTHING. Crossovers, shelved 12-band EQ, plenty of RCA's I/O, built-in Bluetooth (if you can get your phone to pair, don't even try with most Verizon phones), USB, SD, and Nav, and its not some off-brand that has cheesy menus and a shitty warranty. My only complaint is the boot-up time. My XP computer is ready to go faster than the AVICs are.

Kenwood makes good units, and tends to have the most in-depth audio options (independent front & rear crossovers, full curve control, Dual-Zone, etc). Some of them even have gyros allowing you to monitor the G's you pull in a turn. My only complaint is they tend to be a little more than Pioneers with similar features, and I've had remote turn-on lead issues associated with using multiple amps that causes them to fry.

Alpine is... Alpine. They tend to be on top of the game, but the price tag reflects that and most of their receivers just look cheesy compared to the clean looks of Pio or Ken.

On a side note, in terms of video resolution, JVC heads are the best I've seen. I'm not a big fan of their products, but I've got a JVC sitting next to a Pioneer on my sound board and the JVC is more vibrant in color.

If you look around you can get a Kenwood DDX812 which is EXACTLY the same as the DNX8120 just w/p navi for $500. You can purchase the navi unit (kenwood KNA-G510, garmin maps) for $300. If you want/need navi then I would go kenwood route for sure if not then possibly pioneer to save some money.
