Bridging two inputs in to one 3way speaker
Hey question here, today i have replaced the stock sh1tty speakers in the doors, made a HUGE difference towards the kind of sound the car outputted with a stock deck. Now the question is, because these are 3 way speakers, and i already have good tweeters on the speakers (kenwoods) is it possible to disconnect the stock tweeters, take those wires from tweeters, and hook them up to already powered 3way speakers to sort of double the power inputed into the speaker?
Hopefully I explained my self so everyone could understand, please let me know if this is possible, thanks!
In short; disconnect stock tweeters, use those wires and the wires going into door speakers, connect them both to the front door speakers to double the power.

Questions:

- Do you have the OEM Clarion H/U or the OEM Bose?
- Do you have an aftermarket external amp?
- Where are you mounting the aftermarket tweeters (Are the tweeters inside the 3 way speaker or are they remote)?

Not sure is this is a good idea:
a. Power to the tweeters may be AFTER a crossover.
b. Tweeters and EOM door speakers may be powered by 2 amplifiers. Impedance is matched to insure proper operation. If the amplifier is NOT designed for this type of bridging it may cause amplifier problems.

The tweeter mounted on the x-Way speakers is usually after a crossover of some sorts or resistors. Like davidv said, it may also contribute to the speaker's impedance rating. Just leave it alone.

Door speaker and tweeter are powered by same output. Leave the tweeter terminals DISCONNECTED. Tape connectors so they do NOT touch metal.

Thank you very much for the info, another question though, seeing how the door speakers (oem) are 40watts peak, this probably means that the signal is roughly 40~watts peak, and unplugging the stock tweeters, will make the signal roughly 2x (80watts peak?) any idea on the power ratings that are outputted from the stock amp? thank you!
