https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-v...vd-w-pics.html

I'm surpised to see a second thread on the same HU.
Anyone else finding the radio reception pretty poor. So much for "SuperTuner", my oem Audi HU has much much better reception.
I take it no one's been able to play any video from their thumb drives either and it seems the only way is either via disc or through one of the Pioneer selected iPod units.

I have a question for those of you who have this unit. Can anyone tell me the type of optical output that Pioneer used on the back?

Lower right corner beside 10amp fuse;

The reason I ask is that I'm trying to connect the dts digital output to my 5.1ch amp that has a built in dts processor and it takes a standard optical SPDIF/Toslink input as well. I would dearly love to have true 5.1 sound in my Z if I could sort this cable thing out. If I can get a true identification/type of that optical out I could go here and get the correct cable. I tried connecting my standard optical cable to it and it doesn't fit. I'm thinking that perhaps it's a mini optical output connection???

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
John

Would we be able to use an OEM Toggle Switch like the VDC/TCS Button since there are extra slots on the Base/Enthusiast Models?
That way, it would look Stock.
If its possible, does anyone have a Part No.?
The Store I work at has the 3100 for $300 with my Discount, so I'm thinking I might treat myself for Christmas.

Jax, could you elaborate a bit more on the bypass install? I may be getting a similar head unit soon and the whole parking brake connection bugged the hell out of me. I'll also add what you didn't- its for the passenger to play with while being driven vs the driver watching something and crashing

ok, there are 2 wires that u have to play with for this bypass...
1- parking brake wire goes from the headunit to the switch
2- run a ground wire from the switch to a good ground source

...does that seem difficult? its a peice of cake, get the headunit 1st then come back if u need more help...

Question Could i just switch them?

Could i just reverse connection so that when the brake is disengaged it would think it is engaged?

The DVD bypass is too simple guys, you're making it difficult. I will make a thread on it when I get home this evening so I don't jack this guy's thread.

But hey OP that's a beautifully customized Metra kit, bravo man!
