Default WOW, my new little system BLOWS away BOSE!!!

OK, I told myself I would NEVER do another audio install on a car I own and that I will buy cars with decent stereos.

Well, as everyone knows the bose, blows and I felt like I was driving in a cheap car when I turned that thing on.

SO, I had a 2 year old Alpine 7876 cd player and a Blaupunkt 4X75 and 1X150w AMP kicking around, so I started thinking, Hmmmmmm???

I couldn't deal with it anymore, and I found a connection that got me Focal speakers at Factory Cost!!!!.

I ended up getting the Polyglass speakers for the front and a 8.5" driver (sub) already in a premade box (the silver on the box matches the Z trim pretty well, btw). I also got the dash kit that Zland has been talking about.

Yesterday, I INSTALLED the stuff. It was bitter sweet. After getting EVERYTHING installed (but not put back together), I powered it up to let it rip, all I get out of the speakers is Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....shhhhh.....shhhhhh.

I am like, oh GREAT, this crap always happens to me. A buddy was over for a bit who use to install stereos, ran his meter to the amp and played with it for a while, sure enough, he told me the amp is shot. I was TICKED!!!!!!

Luckely I happen to have a VERY VERY cheap Coustic 4X25w amp kicking around that I can install to make sure that is what it is, and at least I can run it until I decide what to do (fix old, or buy new). I get it put back together, and I WORX!!!

not only did it work, BUT for now I am ONLY running the fronts (no rear fill, and the sub isnt hooked up yet).

OH MAN, this thing KILLS the BLOWS!!!! absolutely kills it.

I know the speakers are a lot better, but the power amp is FAR from anything to brag about, and I am ONLY running 2 speakers for bass/mid-bass (vs the 5 for the Bose=2 in front, 2 rear and the 10" "Subwoofer").

Amazing the results and the dissapointment in Bose, they should be ashamed of themselves.

getting my old amp looked at tomarrow, then when I get that fixed or replaced, will add SUB and be done with it.

btw, Focals are Incredible speakers!!!

What did you pay for the polyglass focals?

What is the model number on them?

And if you don't mind, where did you buy them at?

Thanks

Ia m getting the utopias (made of Kevlar, you can run 2 amps to them, they are awesome sounding 2.)

zand02max: if your'e getting the component sets, 799 is sorta expensive, and if 799 is for the 165w 3-way 2003 model of focal utopias, then its a great price

polyglass focals can be had for about 209 for regular model, and 230 for the slim version...i'm guessing cost is probably around high 100's...like 180 or so and 200 respectively.

actually, FACTORY WHOLESALE is less, I would be your right about the dealer cost being around that price.
