Smile YASI: Yet Another Stealth Install + pics

Just got my Z back from Earmark in Dallas, props to Mike my salesguy and Jarrard my installer, they took good care of me and kept me up to date on my car. My goal was something stock looking that wouldn't take up any of my trunk space (need room for my golf clubs :P) and would be a considerable upgrade from the stock non-bose radio (which shouldn't be hard).

I had also been pondering if I got just a single 10" sub behind the driver seat (so an amp could be put behind the passenger seat) if it would be sufficient for my musical tastes (trance and rock), but they surprised me when they mentioned they had already worked on some Z's beforehand and had placed a 12" sub behind the driver's seat. Cool says I, problem solved! So I ended up with Boston Acoustic Pro Series 6.5" up front, 12" JL 12W3 sub, JL 300/4 amp, and a Alpine 7995 head unit.

Install took 2 days and my first impression is pretty damn awesome, not perfect yet, but close. Midrange isn't where I want it to be and I may have erred in not getting rear speakers for fill, as the sound staging seemed weird. But we'll see after I tweak it for a few days.

The install though blew me away, no rattling (and I cranked it up HIGH while I was driving home) and the custom dash kit Jarrard came up with is freakin' incredible!

Damn that setup is sweet! Does it kick hard? If so, thats exactly what i want.
Did they fabricated that piece of trim around the JL?
Very nice install!

How did they fit that box through the opening, even with all the plastic off? Looks really good, I like the trim around the HU!

I'm Fort Worth also. I was wondering about your setup. I had Hawk Electronics over on 20 and Green Oaks do my install. I had them do a stealth install on mine also. I have the Alpine V12 MRV-450 and they mounted it in back just behind the rear speaker box thing and in front of the strut brace. I thought it would fit behind the passenger seat but they told me it was too big. I also have a sub behind the drivers seat. It's a COMP VR 10. Focal Utopias for front and Focal Coax for rears. No deck as of yet. Hoping for a Eclipse for Xmas

Can I ask you how much the dash kit cost? And are they willing to sell them?

Thanks.

They rolled the cost of the dash kit into the labor costs along with fabricating the sub box, so I don't know how much the dash kit is by itself. If interested, their website is at www.earmarkcaraudio.com where you can find contact info. Call the Addison store and ask for Mike, he can probably give you a quote on the dask kit.

The 12" sub does kick hard, the piece of trim around the sub is the stock panel which they cut. I have no idea how they fit the 12" in there.

After a few days of tweaking, I've gotten my midrange right but the sound is still too forward. Looks like I might be going back for window tint and rear speakers for fill :P

Ok, thanks dude. I'll check it out.

Good luck with the rest of your tweaking!

Looks beautiful. The sub setup is exactly what I've been looking for months. Do you know how much they charged you for the box, box install, and amp install separate or together?

Is it a sealed box?

Forgot to ask how long the install took. The Z is my daily driver, so I'm not sure how I can work it...
