Good point!… For sure… we need more info…
For example I assume that the unit is illuminated so that it appears to have power (but that’s a guess without more info). If that’s the case, I wonder if there’s an external amp (again, that’s a guess without more info).
Please follow Subdermal's advice and give more information about this problem. A description of your configuration is very helpful.

Are you still having power issues with your head unit? It kinda sounds like you're having a lot of problems with your install. I would take it to someone who knows what they're doing with an install. Hooking up a wiring harness isn't that complicated but if you don't know what you're doing with it then it can be a mess.

The wiring harness [car side] should have a blue wire (power antenna) and a blue/white (amp turn on) wire. Both of these should be connected to the power antenna output from the Pioneer unit (blue/white). This will turn on the antenna amplifier in your car (otherwise your radio reception will be horrible) and also turn on the factory Bose amplifiers (otherwise you will have no sound). Some receivers will have a separate output for amp turn on and power antenna, but it looks like the P3100DVD only has 1 output, so you have to combine them. (i'm going from the installation manual I found HERE)
ok so we figured out the problem with my sound disappearing. It was because my stock BOSE amp and sub were blown. we did a direct connection from the hu to the rear speakers and "VOILA"...there was sound again, not to mention, it sounds ten times better without the stock amp and sub. so PROBLEM SOLVED, ty all for ya help and support!
