No audio after installing D2, Uninstalled and took some pics..
Can anyone tell me where I went wrong? I should of looked up more information before taking a dive for it since I didnt really know if what I was doing was right.
I matched up all the colors from the PAC ROEM-NIS2 with the adapter that my hu (Avic D2) came with.
These cables were left over from the HU adapter:

Including this long green one that had wasnt labeled, but had a warning sign:

These cables were the ones left over from the PAC ROEM-NIS2:

And these cables were included with my HU:

What did I do wrong?
I got my flame suit on..
I will wait until I got everything clear before going back to install the HU, so any replies will be greatly appreciated.

You should have connected the Blue & Blue/White wires from the pioneer harness (labeled System Remote Control & Auto-Antenna Remote Control) to the Blue & Blue/White wires on the PAC ROEM-NIS2 harness.
You must have a Bose system, right? You're trying to use the factory Bose amps, but you didn't connect the wires to turn on those amps (that's the System Remote Control wires). You will have to hook up the antenna wires as well, or else once you get it working you will realize your radio reception is usless (those wires turn on the factory antenna booster).
Why didn't you hook up the Pink wire (Car Speed Signal Input)? You connect this to the vehicle VSS wire.
From orbitalpunk's AVIC-D3 install:
The VSS wire is located in the middle harness that connected to the white AC control box. its the white wire in the middle.

ProperID thank you for your post. And yes, it is a 2004 Touring with Bose, and I will be using the Bose amps
So I splice the Blue wire, and the Blue/White wire from the HU harness and solder them to the PAC ROEM-NIS2 harness. Then, which is the antenna wire? And the VSS wire, pink wire (the one in the last picture, correct?) Where is that one connected to?

Ok, so I will connect the pink car speed signal wire directly onto the VSS cable? not at the end of it? It came with a pink plastic that I am guessing the VSS cable will run through and it connects it to the car speed signal wire:

Also, the other blue and blue/white cables, I cut off the plugs at the end of them and splice them as usual? The plugs can just be ignored?:

The pink wire is what you connect to the VSS wire in that pic I supplied. (VSS = Vehicle Speed Sensor...connect to the Car Speed Signal Input on your HU)
You got it right about cutting off the plugs on those blue wires...you won't need them. And you can use that pink plastic piece to splice into the VSS wire...just be careful not to completely sever the VSS wire in doing so.

Wait, couple of things I completely forgot about..
Where are the grounding wires? I dont see any on the HU harness at all..
And I purchased an ipod cable that will also charge the ipod as it plays, and it as PC bus plug that connects directly to the back of the HU, a ground cable (found out where it goes by reading the D3 installation guide), and lastly a red wire that is supposed to be connected to a power input/wire. Where should that be connected?
Looks like this:

Looks like this:
The HU harness should have a ground wire...there won't be one on the PAC harness. You should just ground the HU wire to a metal point behind the dash. IIRC, mine is grounded behind one of the screws in this pic:

You can ground your iPod adapter to the same point, and connect the red power wire from the iPod cable to the Red power wires on the HU/PAC harness.

You can ground your iPod adapter to the same point, and connect the red power wire from the iPod cable to the Red power wires on the HU/PAC harness.
for the HU ground, you should have a black wire with a round connector on the end (in the attached pic, you'll see that it should be 2 black wires connected to the same connector). Just slide that connector behind 1 of the screws pointed out above and it will ground the HU. (the rest of the Installation Manual for the AVIC-D2 can be found HERE, in case you don't have yours available)
I'm not sure about the PAC adapter...I didn't use the same harness (I actually have non-Bose)...maybe k1653d or someone else with experience on that adapter can help you.
The green wire is your Parking Break wire...this is supposed to be hooked up to your parking break switch to indicate that you are parked (to be able to watch video and access certain settings). You probably want to bypass this safety feature. To do this you need to ground that green wire, along with adding a pin to the harness and grounding that as well....I'll see if I can find you some instructions on exactly how to do this.
edit: looks like www.avic411.com is down right now (I can't get it to load). This is a great place to go for information on bypassing the AVIC units...see if you can get it to load and search "AVIC-D2 bypass". I'm pretty sure bypassing the D2 is the same as the D3 (which I have) and involves removing the yellow/black Mute wire from the HU harness (use a small screwdriver or similiar tool to pry up on the plastic harness and slide the pin out) and moving the pin/wire over to the empty spot on the harness near the ground (just push the pin in until it clicks into place). Then ground this wire to the car. This is about the best I can do until that site comes back up....

Alright thanks, I seem to have found both grounds. I purchased this head unit used, and the ground did not have the little "grounding" ring on it, it was a normal cable, so I thought it also had to be connected to the black cable from the PAC (which is the PACs ground cable). So I will cut both of them and ground them, as well as the ipod cable and the parking cable.
Before I do all this ill look around for the bypass thing since it will be a PITA to do everything again

Yeah, seems to be the same. So I will have 5 grounds:
PAC
HU Adapter
Ipod cable
Parking brake
Cellular mute (part of the bypass)

Does your RCA harness match the one in this pic:

if so...you can do just that
"Before you connect the power harness to the head unit and place the console back in you will need to modify the RCA Harness that came with the head unit if you want to complete the bypass. You will need to remove the mute wire (yellow and black) and insert it into the hole above it. dont just pull it out. use a small screw driver to lift the plastic pin holding it it.be sure to rotate the wire 180 degrees. the flat side to be facing the top now."
granted, these are the instructions for bypassing the D3...and I'm pretty sure they are the same instructions as the D2, BUT I would wait to verify that the D2 uses the same location for the bypass before you do it....
edit: from what I reading, you won't use the harness above...you will use your main harness (with all of the power/speaker wire connections). remove the cell/mute wire from that harness and replace it in the only other blank/empty slot on the harness.

Thank you ProperID for all your help, I really appreciate your kindness, and also thank you k1653d.
The audio is now working properly, only thing is the iPod cable isnt being recognized by the headunit, which I guess I will turn over to avic411 for that.
Once again, THANKS!
