Question Opinions on JL Stealthbox for z?

whats up peoples, new poster to the forums, usually just lurk around.

quick question. To those who have or have had the jl stealth box wit hthe 2 10w3's what are you opinions on this setup? plenty of bass? not enough? sound awful? worth it?

Also what amps do you have pushing it. Thanks in advance!

I've had my stealth for about a year and it never fails me. It sounded louder than some of the 12" subs out there. The amp I had was the JL 600w x 2. The specific model of that amp I need to go to my car and check if you are dying to find out.

Good quality base, very clear sound and deep, never wuffles even when I try to reach the limit.

It is a 10/10 for me other than the fact that it is pricy But well worth every penny.

Edit: welcome to the forum!!

I have one in my Z, I love the fact that it blends in beautifully with the interior and looks extremely factory! I have the 1000/1v2 JL amp powering the subs. One thing to keep in mind when installing it is to place some fatmat or foam inbetween the rear bar and the box or you'll never want to turn up your bass because of endless rattle!!

About a month ago I swapped the subs that came with the stealthbox and now have 2-10w6v2 JL Subs and these hit lower and fuller than the 10w3v3 ever would! And they sounded better doing so!

If I had to do it all again, I'd just buy a 500/1v2 amp, and stealthly put a single 12w6v2 somewhere in the hatch, possibly the spare tire area along with a 3 way speaker system up front.

Thanks for the responses! and for the welcome!

Duro i know theres a ton of stuff to choose from and i like hearing different opinions, whats your preference (since ive already had two who seem to like the JL box combo)

ive had a few different setups over the years. in my 93 f150 (mainly my show truck) ive got 2 pioneer 12 inch shallow subs (single cab) sound good for what they are. also have a 91 mr2 that has a single polk 8 inch.

nobody i know owns a z so i dont have any personal experiance of what setups sound best in the z and what doesnt. thus this thread...

again thanks

I like the box itself but not the subwoofers it comes with, they didn't cut it for me - just wanted to make that clear.

Butters, what does the rest of your system consist of? What type of music do you listen to? What kind of power are you looking at running to the sub(s)?

Answering these questions can help us point you in the right direction. Most likely, there may be a less expensive alternative to the JL stealth box that will suit your needs better. There are a lot of guys and girls here running aftermarket systems that are truly amazing that cost less than a JL stealth box.

z is bone stock sound wise.

my other setups in my other vehicles-
for the truck i have alpine doors alpine rears, Kenwood components Kenwood tweets, 2 pioneer 12 inch shallow subs, 3 amps (2 kenwoods for doors and components, one old coustic 600 for subs which is not enough for them i know)

the mr2 isnt to much; alpine 6.5s 2 ways in the doors, pioneer 4 inch 3 ways in the rear. a 8 inch polk mm sub pushed by a blaupunkt 300/1 amp.

i mainly listen to rock (think octane for satellite radio listeners) but i also like some good bass every now and again. thats about it tho. no country no folk or anything like that haha.
