Default Nooby needs help on his first Audio build

Since everyone knows the 350z's stock speakers suck ***, therefore, I decided to change it.
But I don't really picky on bass, I like overall quality than just bass. i don't really need to have strong bass but just respectable bass quality to car.

I just went on ebay and bought the kenwood KFC-P708, http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-2009-K...d=p3286.c0.m14

looking for amp or amps and sub, can I just put the subs to where the stock bass are, or can I just get another set of speakers set to the stock bass ? Do you guys think the bass will satisfy my need by just the speakers with no sub? and necessary accessories like wires and connectors or harness.

Do you know what is the dimension of the 350z's head-unit? Can the 350z install any of these pioneer head-units? If these units don't fit, what other great options to choice? Do I need any connector, or harnesses?

I'd like to respond to your question but I'm not really clear on what it is that you are asking.

Not only do the stock Bose speakers suck

The Bose subwoofer sucks

And the amplifiers suck

Where's the power transistors?

And the crossovers suck

The head end is also likely to suck just as bad but I have no pictures to prove that point so I'll let it slide. The stock Bose headend doesn't use industry standard RCA connectors and I suggest since there's a microphone input to it (under the steering wheel) to compensate for cabin noise that it does in fact, suck as much as the rest of the Bose stuff.

You ought to be looking for a whole system - headend to speakers. Keep the stock antenna (just remember to wire up the RF booster amp).

Your front speakers can just go in the holes if they fit depth wise. The rear subwoofer is a "free air" subwoofer which are the worst - worst accuracy and worst amplitude (volume). You'd be better off with an all-in-one system from Infinity or the like with the amplifier and subwoofer speaker built into a package that will fit in the compartment once you remove the Bose "subwoofer". Better still are dedicated subwoofers and amplifiers.

My system is nothing at all special, I own my own home and entertain myself there without 80 dB worth of VQ engine to compete with there.

Hey Paul, every time I see you post those pics I am impressed with your attention to detail during your install. I can tell you are a "everything has a purpose" kind of person. I mean the amps are p-touched with what they power!!! And the handles on the sub box are great for when you have to pull it out to fit actual cargo. I love it.

This is what I bought from ebay. I was saying, I need to upgrade the audio in the Z, I am not picky on bass so should I get a bass speakers or just get pair of speakers to replace the oem bass? What kinda amp should I get? I am only looking for something that can power the speakers, thanks.

Paul,

I always like the comparison pictures you post. Your pics make it clear why (in many instances) OEM components don't match aftermarket products.

I've followed your advice more than a couple of times, and always had great results.

Thanks for participating on my350z.com,

This is probably not going to be the answer you want to hear, but how could anyone on here tell you if you're going to need a subwoofer ("bass speaker") or not? That is something only you could know. You know what kind of music you listen to, you know how you listen to it and I'm assuming you already have a 350z (with the bose system otherwise you do not have a factory subwoofer) so you should know what the current bass levels are currently.

Its pretty simple, do you want more bass than what your car is currently putting out? If the answer is yes, then yes, you will need a subwoofer and an amplifier to power that subwoofer. You need to tell us what YOU want/need and we can do our best to help you through suggestions but ultimately it is up to you.

Your next question is probably going to be amongst the lines of what subwoofer/amplifier would we suggest? If you would like someone to answer those questions (and it probably won't be me, since my taste seem to be different than the majority here) than you need to clearly state how much you would like to spend on a subwoofer and amplifier(s) (or just an amplifier if you opt not to install a subwoofer); what locations in the car you would like to place the equipment; what type of music you listen to; and what your expectations are out of the sound system (sound quality, loudness, both, etc.). After you answer these questions than some of the members who frequent this section will be better equipped to assist you.

In regards to your headunit fitment question, why don't you use the "fitment check" feature that is located right on those Best Buy webpages?

Thank you so much for you help, after reading the question you gave me, I did some homework, and got myself a Hifonics ZX10d2, and P1100.2 from crunch. Just looking for another Amp to power the Kenwood, any idea for this?

About the headunit, Pioneer site and Bestbuy site both are giving something different. Pioneer site told me none of Navis is fit, bestbuy said there is one of them fit. Dont know who I should listen to.
