Ordering my Basslink.....
I'll be ordering my Basslink this week coming and I was wanting to know if a standard amp wiring kit will do the trick to get it installed?
It comes with all of this:
16-foot Strike RCA patch cable
20-foot braided crystal blue 10-gauge power wire
3-foot silver 10-gauge ground wire
ATC fuse holder with 30-amp fuse
16-3/4" 18-gauge turn-on lead
ring terminals
connectors
wire ties
4-3/4 foot split loom
protective grommet
Seems like it will work and it costs $30
Am I better off going to get this stuff somewhere else? Any suggestions?
Also, when wiring the power to the battery, do I just use the 2nd bolt that's on the positive termimal or where do I put it?
Thanks!!!

my basslink came with the 10g power wire. everything works fine, no problems what so ever. As far as the power wire and battery, just attach the power wire to the red (positive) part on the battery using one of the rings that come with the amp kit. PM me if u have any other questions.

eBay.
If you want a amp wiring kit to get it all installed you can get both for $188.95
If you don't need the kit, then I've seen the basslink for as low as $171.95 (Brand new - buy it now option only)
This is a good deal I belive considering that the cheapest amp wiring kit is $20+ and Circuit City sells the Basslink for $300+

I may have to post this as a separeate thread, but let's give it a try here.
What is the final word on where the best location for the Basslink is?
Anybody who's ever tried it in more than one place, where do you get the best sound?
Stock sub location or rear hatch area?

I couldn't imagine that if you close it up in an enclosure that you would get as good of a sound as if you put it cornered in the hatch and fired it up or put it between the strut bar and the rear speakers and fired it rearward.
I guess I'll just have to find out myself!

I see em there for like $200, and that is from a dealer with a 4+ star rating on yahoo.
Lots of good prices on yahoo, and probably a little safer than eBay.

I have a basslink mounted in the stock sub location and it sounds incredible. Much more than I ever expected. It is clean and powerful. I ran 4 gauge from the battery along the passenger side and through the white plastic wire guides and broke off an 8 gauge to power my basslink. I installed a 1 farad capacitor while I was at it.
I was able to set my crossovers for my 4 front and rear speakers to have just a little overlap around 160hz with the basslink.
Get a copy of Exit Stage Left by rush and listen to the drum solo on there. Hi and low drums shifting within the stereo image. It worked great to tune the system.
I have a lemans sunset roadster. Alpine reference components all around. Alpine CDA-7897 Head unit. Alpine V12 50X4rms amp + basslink. Plenty of power so I can hear over road noise with the top down.
I paid $190 off ebay for new in the box basslink.

Does anyone have pictures of their install? I'm looking to get one of these to tie me over until I have more money in the future for building my own custom box. I would like to put it in the stock location but not sure about the size and how to mount it.

Mine's not in the stock sub location. I mounted it in the hatch area. Sounds really good.
This is not a pic of mine, but I have mine in the exact same location.

it has both low level (RCA) and high level (speaker leads) inputs. This means that you could use it with an aftermarket radio which has RCA outputs like the Alpine unit that I have for example that has a RCA output specifically for the subwoofer or with a factory head unit with only speaker outputs (high level).
Basically you hook up either the high level or low level inputs, you run a wire to the battery, one for the ground and one for the remote turn on (only needed for low level inputs) and that's it!
As for the location, In my opinion, you will get the best sound in the hatch area as it allows for the low frequency waves to build and give a deeper fuller bass, but the stock sub location isn't bad. Only thing is that the bass will not carry and not be as full as in the hatch area.
