How does the glare from the sun affect your view of the screen? I was at a store today, just about to purchase this very head unit when the salesman said something that stopped me in my tracks. He said that when the sun shines off of it, I won't be able to see the characters on the LCD screen. Essentially making it a guessing game of where to touch the screen in order to use it properly.
Here I am about to drop $499 on this radio and this sales guy stops me cold...not a good sales guy, unless he is right.
Anyone with this head unit or similar style unit have issues with sun glare on the LCD? Oh yeah, I have Z roadster so top down may exaggerate the issue, but it can't be much different than the sun shining through a side window of the coupe. Same result.
Thanks in advance for your replies!

There is an advantage to a single-din H/U with mechanical push buttons since these are very visible in bright light. However, not every single-din H/U has illuminated buttons, which makes this type of device more difficult to operate in poor light or during night time hours.
Here is an example showing both devices.

Notice that my poor photographic technique with excessive flash washes out the lower left corner of the LCD screen due to screen reflection; however, the single-din H/U’s buttons are very visible for easy operation.
I would not discard an LCD touch-screen device simply because the screen is more difficult to read under direct sunlight. You should also be aware that Kenwood LCD screens incorporate an anti-reflective layer that mitigates this problem.
