Default OEM Alarm goes off randomly

I searched but couldnt find anything on this problem. My factory Alarm on my car started going off randomly the other day. I keep my car in a garage each night and it doesnt seen to happen when I do.

It seems to only happen when it is really cold out. (below freezing)

Has anyone else heard of this? Any help is much appreciated.

Mine was doing this for a few weeks when I first got it out of the garage after sitting for about a year. Did you have it stored for awhile? It eventually stopped after a few weeks of me driving it regularly. My only guess was that there was some moisture causing a short somewhere and it eventually dried up.

It is most likely caused by your hood pin.

If that is your car in your avatar your hood is probably causing it.

Open the hood, look for the hood pin (it's a plunger like switch) and unplug it and see if the problem goes away.

This is a fairly common issue with Nissans.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! KPierson nailed it! The cause was the Hood Pin. My Carbon Fiber Hood sits just a tad bit higher than the OEM. When its really cold, the Hood contracts and has a slight bow in it. When this happens, it triggers the Hood Pin. Thanks Kpierson!

Default Same F'ing problem

I've got the same problem and I've got a cf hood. Could you take a pic of what you unplugged and post?

Black 2003 Track Nismo. Siebon CF hood.

Default Found the right plug

Okay so I had to do some asking around and I found the plunger plug that is being referred to in the above posts. I took so pics so others can have a look.

Its on the passenger side of the engine near the strut bar.

I've never heard of issues with the OEM hood, but as the cars age it is only a matter of time until the issue starts to arise. Of course it could also be from the accident.

I love this forum. My horn was going off like crazy last night and wouldn't stop. It was pouring rain and floods everywhere. I have to give this a try. I tried everything else. Do any of you guys have more than one alarm LED indicator light? For some reason, I have 2 reds LEDs for my alarm system and one of them won't turn off. It just stays lit, I think its draining my battery.

The 2nd one is most likely an aftermarket system - there shouldn't be any lights staying on all the time. Assuming it is an LED it will be a low current draw device but will eventually, given enough time, drain your battery.

Searched Google and came across this post. I have that same issue and a CF hood. Unplugged and uninstalled the plunger. Worked like a charm!
