Nav worth price?
The car is in but it has a nav sys that I didn't order. He wants $25 more per month on a 39 mo lease.
I'll be turning the car in at the end of the lease, & won't being travelling to unknown parts.
Cool item but is it worth it, if not used. I have a hand held GPS

I decided not to get it because 1) I don't take alot of long trips where I may actually use it. I rarely get lost going to work and the store.
and 2) for the $2000 it would have cost, I could but myself something else more useful. It does have a great "Ghee-Whiz" faction though.

Same here. I almost never get lost locally and for really long trips I would take my bigger car anyway so I could bring suitacases.
If you want a toy you can keep (and costs less) check out the Garmin color street pilot NAVs. I have one and it works awesome!
Someone on this board has installed theres in the Z cubby, but it required cutting. On a leased Z you might want to mount it to the drink holder. Someone here has done that and posted some pics.
I got mine for like $700 after the rebate and it works well. Not as gee-wiz as the built in, but it works in all my cars. I mostly use it in my Durango on trips.

I was asking the same question when I put my name on my Z (it was already on the boat when I found it.)
I figured it was one of those things that I'd play with a lot the first week, and then only use occasionally.
Well, I actually use it all the time, even around town - to avoid traffic, explore new areas, etc. I stored all of my usual desitinations, and now I know all kinds of new shortcuts around town.
Now, If I lived in Denver or Miami, where the streets were basically a big straight grid, I don't think I'd get much out of it. But I live with water (rivers, bays, ocean, etc.) all around, so getting from point a to point b is never a straight shot.
Just my $0.02.

I like the Nav system. It has great coverage for all of the places I have taken it in California. I had a blast running through the mountains north of Lake tahoe - lots of winding roads kept showing up that I had to go and explore.
It is convenient to have it on when driving in unknown territory. When you don't want it, just close the door and it turns off. If you like toys and/or like knowing where you are - and where the nearest gas stations, ATMs, or Burger Kings are - you'll get a kick out of it.

I didn't order the Nav on mine because I have no idea how it works. Do you guys have to pay for a "service' for it to work? Kind of like having to pay a cell phone company for a cell phone to work?
get the nav...you dont have to pay a service charge....and its the greatest thing alive...unless of course you absolutely dont need it...but dont not buy it because you plan on getting an aftermarket one
I Love my Nav. Use it all the time. I do travel alot though. I turn it off most of the time in town, but at times it helps there too. It's been well worth it for me. I highly recomend it.
Does anybody know if the wiring harness is already installed inside the Z even if you do not have the navigation system installed. Also does anybody know where I can get a hold of a Nissan nav. system without paying tons of money through the dealership.
