will these speakers fit?
hey all,
I am planning to put
CXS64 V.2 - Image Dynamics 6.5" 4 ohm Component System
for the front doors..
The depth is 3".
I gutted out the stock speakers to use the stock spacers and it still was
too deep hitting the window..
I'm thinking it could probably fit with the stock spacer plus 0.5 mdf spacer.. but Im afraid that it won't clear the door panel.
Does anyone have the same speakers or have tried fitting a 3" speaker?
or will it just not fit?
Thanks in advance,

door pods may seem expensive but the sound you get out of them is amazing. Also in the end the cost of door pods is really only a small part of your entire system build, around 15% even on a small system. One thing that can save you some money with pods is by getting the unfinished ones, saves you around 100$ and finishing them is really quite easy. I ended up glassing in spots for the tweeters and then covering them in black lambskin for around 30 bucks in materials. I thought finishing them in leather would be a pain with all curves but lightweight lambskin stretches over all the curves without any stitching required and turns out excellent. Just my 2 cents though, deep speakers are a pain to mount in the doors stock locations and you wont get the sound you paid for from your speakers.
sa-zboi (or something like that) is selling some kicker panels that are setup for speakers. you can find them in the Texas Marketplace. I think the thread title is Lots of parts for sale.

The stock door mount has significant disadvantages:
- It’s difficult to fit a speaker that is > 2.5” depth (which eliminates many quality speakers).
- Even if you can stuff a decent speaker inside the stock door mount, you have compromised sound.
- The stock door grill is only holes drilled in the door panel, and blocks about ½ the sound.
- The drilled holes in the door panel are too few, too small, and too far apart (it’s configured that way to maintain the door panel’s strength).
- The stock “door panel grille” is concave. Speaker covers are flat or convex.
- The stock door speaker mount angles the speaker incorrectly.
There are plenty of opportunities to waste $$'s when installing A/V stuff, but door pods or "kicks" are a good investment.
