Tazicon,

One thing to consider when using the DD slot in the 350 Z for your navigations screen is the fact it is too low for safe viewing while driving. There are informal standards for angle-deflection for safe viewing, and the Z's DD slot is outside these standards.

A GPS screen in the forward/upper cubby is much better for viewing while driving.

Also if you get the Kenwood model it comes with Garmin loaded into it. 7" screen etc.

Your < $200 qualifier kills this deal.

^^ The Magellan 1700 is the only option I know of that fits your criteria: < $200 and accepts a rearview camera. The camera costs $130 and it does not require hardwiring its video.

not sure what camera you are talking about but generic backup cameras can be had for ~$30, not $130... also it does require wiring from the camera to the screen...

I Installed my Magellan into an 06 Dash, but I would assume you could do the same thing as I did. I simply used the red 3M double-sided tape. It is stuck on there so well I would break something trying to get it off. Brackets were not needed.

I disassemble the back and side of the Magellan 1700 small screw driver needed. Used the screws and cut two small piece of 20g sheet metal to make a bracket.

the 03-05 non navi cubby is the same so you can follow the same steps as the first few pages where members were putting them in the 03.
The dash change occurred in 06+ models that had a different non navi and navi cubby.

You will need to be crafty with a dremel regardless and I would recommend you use metal brackets to hold the magellan into place. The unit will fit into all models with a little work so you should start obtaining parts.

Cheers

For those who have gone this route, just wondering, what did you use to fill up the space where the button panel and mask finisher would normally go? I'm about to order the main upper navi console (PN 68260-CF47A, the piece in the picture above), and was ABOUT to order the mask finisher (PN 68499-CF40A), and planned to fabricate something and wrap it in black leather in place of where the navigation button panel would go...but now I'm thinking of NOT ordering the mask finisher and just filling that with a fabricated piece as well(it's like $50 for that piece lol, might as well save there since I'm fabricating the button panel filler)...

anyway, I haven't been able to find any pics of an install showing something OTHER than the button panel and mask finisher.

That's exactly what I'm waiting for as well. I ordered an 03-06 control panel but it didn't fit. As of noe its just an empty space. Let me know what you end up doing.

yea I have an idea of how I plan to fill the gap, and I'll be sure to take plenty of pics and notes in case it does work out well lol If not, ah well, maybe someone can take what I put up and improve on it.

Anyway, do you have a pic of your current set up with the gap?

I'm probably gonna order the part through Mike@CZP as he's been really helpful with quotes and shipping to Canada. Just waiting on one more quote before placing my order sometime this week.
