Default Ok to just change speakers? (with bose)

Hey guys,

I have a 2003 350z touring with the bose system (no nav), and was just curious if you can just change the speakers without adding another amp and whatnot.

Thanks!

parts is parts.......why wouldn't you be able to? Disconnect/uninstall/remove old and install new ones. If your budget allows, take a look at FOCAL. Componenets in the door and if you want to keep the rears, you can install FOCAL full range.
My 2 cents for what its worth........I have FOCAL's front and rear and do not miss a sub. But then I'm not a boom boom guy.........

You cant just hook up aftermarket speakers to the stock bose setup...If you want good audio, gut the bose, buy aftermarket speakers, head unit, and according amps...

OK, I'm curious, not being familiar with Bose systems, why can't a speaker connected to a Bose unit be disconnected and a different/new speaker be re-connected? Whats particular with the Bose unit?
And thanks for the info.........

I don't know too much but from what I have learned on this site, bose speakers are 2ohm, most aftermarket speakers arent. Search some other threads on my350z, all the information is there.

You CAN hook up some Infinity reference speakers in the place of the factory Bose speakers and you WILL notice an improvement. They're dirt cheap right now at Crutchfield: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1086022...2si.html?tp=95

That being said, ANYTHING is an improvement over the Bose setup and in the end, I dumped the Infinitys and went with a much better system that cost a LOT more money. Since sound quality is subjective, you might be very happy with this or you might hate it. Regardless, it DOES sound better than stock.

If you know what you're doing, the full install for all four speakers will take around 2 or 3 hours.

Bose does not run at 4OHMS. Most aftermarket speakers are 4OHMS.
