Default double din deck without losing OEM nav

Hey, this seems like it would be a common problem however I cannot find the answer when searching the forum. I want to install an aftermarket double din head unit on my 2004 Z with the OEM navigation system. I have called numerous car audio shops and they all have said I would have to lose my factory navigation. I understand that the cd changer and nav are sort of one unit together but there should be a way to wire around this issue. Any help?

Please search. This question has been answered several times over again since it was initially answered in 2003.

Most/all aftermarket headunits will cause you to lose the navigation voice response through the the speakers.

When I installed my pioneer I did find that I no longer have the voice nav, but of course the system still works. Honestly I pretty much never use the voice assist, as I know where I am and lately seems like my iphone gps has been pretty decent if I get lost lol. You will like the look of having two screens too, like ur in a fighter jet!

OK so I just lose the voice assist? The navigation still works? If that is the case then I am in business.

As Kwame@z1Auto states, this is a recurring question, and there is a solution.

Here are the instructions to keep voice guidance from the OEM navigation when replacing the stock H/U with an aftermarket device:

This comes from the above Sticky’s in this subforum (Discussion Forums>350 Z Tech Area>Audio & Video)

Here is another thread discussing your question:

I attempted a little humor here, but as you notice reading the thread, the OP did not appreciate my effort.
