Default installed new hu now reception is horrible

Hey Guys,

I already searched and found that I need to hook the power antenna lead from my HU to the solid blue wire coming from my wire adapter for the antenna amplifier to work. I did that and still have horrible reception. Any suggestions?

thanks

Default fixed!

I had a brain storm last night and remembered that I disconnected a green white plug that was connected to the antenna when I disconnected my stock bose HU and didn't plug it back in when I installed my new HU. I plugged it back in, connected power antenna from my HU to the solid blue wire on my radio adapter and VIOLA, reception is back to 100%.

THAT'S IT! I've gone through the same issue. Your little funny antenna has an amp that needs to be powered in order to amp those RF signals. All the others on this thread probably have the same issue!

NO! The Z has a stock antenna amp that needs to be powered by the H/U. The stock unit does it normally. When you upgrade you need to connect this to your non-stock H/U's antenna power source. For my Kenwood it was the power antenna wire.

I had the same issue when I installed my aftermarket head unit, no reception. I ended up finding out about the antenna amp as well. I don't remember what color it is, but if you're using a wiring harness kit, it should be marked. It's either blue or blue and white if I remember correctly.
