Default Need Some Advice On A Pioneer AVH-3200dvd Install

So I just ordered everything I believe I'll need to install the avh-3200dvd on my '06 Z convertible with stock base stereo (no Bose). However after searching A LOT of threads and sites online I am still a bit nervous about attempting this kind of install myself, especially since I'd try to do the dvd bypass myself as well. So rather than attempt the install myself and the potential frustration and/or screw up with the wiring I'd prefer to have a professional install it for me since I have zero experience with this sort of wiring. My question is does anyone know of any installers in the San Diego area preferably North County area that will do a professional job and possibly even do the dvd bypass for me if asked? I'm sure I'll have to use a mom&pop shop for the bypass but I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good ones. -Or- since I'd LOVE to actually do this myself, if it weren't for my lack of experience and the fact that I don't really know anyone here that has the experience themselves with Z's, is there anyone that has done this install before or has the experience and could help me out here in San Diego?

Did you get all of the parts for mounting it (plastic bezel thing). I will be putting my 3200dvd in this weekend in my 08 as long as it shows up. If you have no rush to get it in I can make a complete walk through with pictures if that helps.

As for the parking bypass, its easy to do but unlikely that a shop will due it for liability issues. I've bypassed a few years ago though and I am not sure if they still use a parking brake ground method.

I had ZERO experience installing a head unit into a vehicle until I installed my 4100DVD. I bought the wire harness from Crutchfield and it came with great step by step instructions and support if you need it. Then youtube for instructions on the e-brake bypass.

Hey Tyler, I'd really appreciate a step by step walk through if you get the time that'd be great! Here's what I ordered:

Pioneer AVH-3200dvd
Metra Electronics 70-7550 Wiring harness
Metra Installation Kit 99-7602 from Best Buy

Any other tips and help is appreciated.

Its really not as hard as it looks. The dash kit should give you pretty much step by step disassembly instructions. The only odd thing you run into is the HVAC box you have to remove. The bypass should be just grounding the parking brake wire since the radio doesnt have nav. And all of the ground need to be mounted directly to metal since Nissans never have ground in the harness.

Not the easiest car in the world but not the harest either.

Best Buy would charge around 100 to install but finding someone to bypass it will be hard.

RayRay,

I've attached a connection schematic for my installation of a AVH-4200, which should be the same as a AVH3200. Connecting the stock wiring to the Metra harness.

I used a single pole double throw (spdt) toggle switch from radioshack instead of the relay for the video bypass. I didn't want it to automatically switch.

Good luck

I'm sorry, my install got delayed it's still in progress. I used this site for a how to:

http://www.*********.com/zwiki/Head_Unit_Installation

it blocked it, so just search 350z and wiki and navigate to the audio video section.

If you have a specific question I might be able to help but I would email me as I haven't been able to get on the forum as much as I would like.

Installed the HU yesterday and it went so easily I was pretty shocked. Even did the bypass and that wasn't hard at all! Works great, looks good, and overall a pretty simple install.

Thanks to everyone for the advice it definitely helped.
