Default air condition acts funny after new head unit install.

Hey all. I previously had an 04 Enthusiast 350z and it had a Pioneer head unit in it, I always had trouble with the Air Conditioning either being on cold when set to 60, or if i took it up even a notch to 61 or 65 the heater kicked on, i always thought it was the ac messed up. Either way I unfortunately recently crashed and got an 08 NISMO 350z, as I got to keep the radio and stuff I reused it and now I have the same problem, and I know it's not the A/C it's one of the first things I tried at the dealer. I didn't see anything that would cross in the radio and the A/C unit to cause this, as a matter of fact the only time i touched the white a/c box was to unscrew the factory head unit and put it back into place. any ideas? I'm sorry if there's a topic on this I read a few full installs where i had used "air condition" as a search term and like 3-4 pages of topics that came up to "A/C" and couldn't find anything.

The only time I have ever heard of A/C or heat being full on either way without any adjustment, it had to do with the air temp sensor. Not familar with an 08 Nismo and to lazy to look at my wifes car but usually on the driver underdash there is a small vent, attached to it on the other side is a hose and 2 wire plug(normally). Just make sure if you pull the dash off they are reconnected.

if thats not it recheck your connections but i am sure you already did

did you unplug the white ribbon that attaches to the back of the ac control panel when you installed the pioneer into the new z

yes i did and i did put it back in or it wouldn't work.... i'll check the sensor when i go out to my car later today. i was at the dealership and they said they replaced the unit as it was defective but same ****. if i can't figure it out i'll make them look at it again, just worried that if its due to the head unit they will be as....mean people...

btw thanks for the responses.

Double check that ribbon connection. It's the only logical point of failure during this sort of install.

Some people forget to connect it back to the AC controller. If it's disconnected, it will just blow on high.

na it is connected, this is like the bajillionth time i've taken a z apart for radio or such in that area. i will try to disconnect and re-seat it but it does blow cold when on 60 just anything above 60 all the way up to 90 kicks to the heater....

Did you check out the sensor? Also if you take it to the dealership put the stock radio back in, if they even see you took it apart they will probably charge you for any repairs.
