Future Build.
Im planning to get a system in my car and need some advice. Any info is greatly appreciated.
I have already an Alpine ixa-w404 and some alpine components the type r, I have not yet installed them since I want to put everything together at the same time.
My next purchase will be a zenclosure, would you guys recommend to buy the single 10" and put a jl 10w6v2 or get two 10w3? What other subws do y ou recommend? (no more than $400)
What amp should I get? should i buy a mono that is for the subw and another for the components? or get one of those amps that can combine.
Would I need a capacitor?
Should I dynamat? what is recommended, the doors and trunk? what else?
how much should I buy? any good deal out there?
Thank you

dude, search a lil more and you would of been able to find your answers. ill be nice and answer. 1. i would get the cap just to make sure you dont ever drain your battery/volt spikes(aka dimming of lights). 2. yes get a amp just for subs and speakers. Get 1 jl 10"ws6 and run a apline mono amp with 500rms and that sub will shine! I have the sub i named and running 2 but with 1 500rms amp so each one getting around 250rms which is half of what it rated at.

do you have any pics of your setup?

no sadly but with the subs i have i couldnt keep it as wide as the rear strut bar. it goes all the way to were the back speakers are(the beginning of the plastic park). If you still had to have 2 sides of the trunk you may want to try to see if you can only use 1 of the subs and try to get it into speck.

i was asking because if you are paying someone to do it it will be expensive
if you do it yourself it will be cutting all labor charges out
if you like JL than many people on here use jl and if you search you can find alot on jl installs
how loud do you want it and how much power do you wanna run
most people are happy with 1 10", some want more
500 watts of power on 2 10's will be louder than 500 watts on one
2 subs is double motor and double cone and will move more air
i think it would be money better spent to change you factory underhood alt wire and ground to 0 awg over a capacitor and i would recommend not getting a cap
i would use sound deadner
i would use a mono on the subs and a 2 channel on the front stage
what is your entire budget for this
are you doing it all at once or in stages

alternator is what i meant when i said alt
so you want to do it all at once
not spend more than $1000
get a zenclosure box
get jl sub or subs
get amp
you will need materials to do the install
are you keeping the factory radio
are you wanting to replace your front speakers
are you wanting an amp for your front speakers
is your car a bose car

yeah it is bose :/
Do you have rear speakers on yours? I shouldn't even bother getting new ones right?
What kind of materials would I need for he install?

You'll need a basic drill, couple socket wrenches and screw drivers. I run rear speakers for loudness when I got the windows down on the highway.

so you can put in your new radio
new front components
a 2 ch amp to power front components
disconect rear speakers
mono amp for subs
zen box
sub woofer or woofers
you will need a radio trim kit
a radio wiring haress
you may or may not need an antenna adapter
you will need power and ground wire
remote trigger wire
rca x 2
fuse holder anl
anl fuses
ring terminals
electric tape
butt connectors
speaker wire
wire crimpers
wire strippers
utility blade
screw drivers flat and philips
sockets and ratchet
maybe a few more basic tool
volt meter and or dmm
screws to fatsten sub to box
sound deadner
probably a few more items
i would suggest doing it in stages as you are a new comer

Do I need the wiring harness? or can I just cut and solder the wires together?
-------------------
How much dynamat do I need?
both doors and the trunk?
should I use more?
------------------
if I do in stages, lets say I install the radio this weekend will the OEM bose speakers work with the aftermarket radio?
Or if I install the alpine components will they work with the bose radio?

a wiring harness is roughly $15 and it would not be in your best interest to butcher the factory wires to save $15 then use butt connectors or soldier and heat shrink i prefer butt connectors
i would buy a 36 square foot bulk pack to do your trunk and doors either dynamat or roadkill
the 1st stage is better to bypass the bose system completely
buy the head unit , the components , and the amp for the components,
this way by installing the radio , the front stage comps, and the amp to power them you are bypassing the bose system
also disconnect rear speakers at the same time
this will have your project 1/2 done
1 st stage complete
then when you are ready for stage 2 you can do the box, sub and or subs and the amp to power them
i would start 1st stage on a Friday night after school and or work disassemble everything , then Saturday begin hooking everything up , then sunday finish up
by taking your time over an entire weekend you should be able to complete stage 1
make sure before you begin you have everything you need to complete stage 1
make sure you have a garage that is yours or a friends so you can leave car apart during this time frame
if you have a friend that has knowledge of how to do this make sure his schedule is free , that he is willing to help you , and make sure you can feed him during the course of this time
hence i said a friend
take your time don't rush as not to break anything
i will answer any questions you post up
no one cares for your car as much as you
don't you dare butcher your harness

ok I ordered the harness online for $10
Im looking around for some good prices on dynamat.
now for the amp, do you have any good recommendations?
should I get a two-channel??
I plan putting the amp where the bose subw is at. Would I have any problems with overheating?
what amp kit should I buy?
What should I look for when buying one?
I found this one.

what is the components you bought , this will allow me to suggest the correct amp
if you are disconnecting your rear speakers than a 2 ch is what you want
what ohm are the components you bought they should be 4 ohm
that kit should be fine for the mid and high amp

Spend the money you would've spent on a cap to upgrade your ground + alt + power line for your amp.
My lights dimmed running a 400w RMS amp with an 8AWG power line.
I upgraded all my lines to 1/0 and there is no dimming with 1000W RMS right now.
Slight dimming when I really crank it up and the bass hits a long deep note but nothing too noticeable. I will upgrade my alternator before buying a cap if it bothers me later.
