Antenna Amplifier as Turn On Lead to Amplifier
Because I will be keeping my stock unit when upgrading the rest of my audio system (i know...i know...)...I have been looking for a connection point for the turn on lead into the amplifier.
I believe the ANTENNA Amplifier output from the radio (terminal 5 output on the head unit (green/white) / terminal 1 input on the antenna amplifier) should do the trick as this antenna amplifier is turned on only when the radio is turned on.
My question is the following...
should I tear apart the dash and splice the wires at the output of the radio and run the wires to the input of the amplifier's turn on input
OR
will I be okay if I splice the wires at the INPUT of the antenna amplifier (in the back of the car) and run the wires into the amplifier's turn-on input (this way I do not have to tear apart the dash to get to the same wire).

you are probably gonna hate me...but what exactly does that mean...and more importantly how can i do it...also...by tapping off a fuse...does this mean that the amp can turn on only when the radio is on...?...thanks for the help...
okay...so i spent quite a bit of time analyzing the AV service manual & the PG (power/ground) service manual and I believe I know what you mean...
anyone...please confirm...
I could replace the accessory fuse (slot 6) on the fuse box (J/B - junction box) right behind the drivers side kick panel (next to the footrest)...with the following piece...
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...questid=171949
and then feed a line from the fuse above to the input of the amplifier as the turn on lead...and by going down this road...whenever I turn the car on (or place key in ignition and turn half way) the amp will turn on...is this correct...
when the amp is on and the radio is not on...the amp probably draws negligible power from the battery right...
