Default Installing aftermarket amp and sub into stock bose system

Ok, so i have a 2003 nissan 350Z touring edition with BOSE and i couldnt find anything that was clear on how to install an aftermarket amp and sub into the stock bose system so i joined to get the word out there. So for starters, for those of you who want to mount a sub in the stock location, don't its a waist of time; I installed a 500w kicker amp behind the passanger seat in the glovebox and a 10' kicker sub (in the stock location) and oh my god did the car rattle. It was so bad i went out and bought a 10" bass works non-ported box within a hour. Now when in comes down to the actual install there are a few things i want to get across, for one if you want to put the amp in get one that dosent requrie a remote turn on, thats what i did and it saved me alot of greif. I picked up the kicker 500W, should be about $300-$350 (I went on boxing day and got it for $199. secondly, with a stock head unit (deck) you will have to buy a LOC (line out converter). Now, if the guys at best buy and future shop say splice it into your rear speakers don't, that is also a waste of time B/C they are powered but the stock amp which messes up the signal so it dosen't work; that is what i did and it didn't work; i had small amounts of noise coming from sub but no bass. You do still need the LOC to get the job done. The simplest way to wire in the rca's to the amp with the LOC is to splice it into the stock BOSE sub hook-up. there are two wires, positive and negitive and the sub should pound. just hook up the two positive leads from the LOC with the positive lead with the stock BOSE sub, and two negitive leads from the LOC with the negitive Bose sub lead; i just left the ground unhooked from the LOC and it works fine. Again, a aftermarket sub in the stock location is a waste of time, when i tried to splice into the rear speakers i pretty much had to take out the majority of the panneling, so it makes sense why the car rattles so much. another note i would like to make is that these cars are a pain to work on because of the size, im 6'3 and working behind the seat is hard. I really hope this post helps people install amps and subs in to their 350's with less trouble then i had, cheers. if you have any questions just email me B/C i probable wont check this forum to to often.

Thank you for going through the trouble. It is unfortunate but yes stock sub location is a waste of time.

Here is a fiberglass lightweight alternative.

Or if you want a 13" sub in stock location.
