Default Audio noobie :)

Just purchased a 06' Enthusiast Z

I want to add some good quality sound since the stock speakers are horrible. I have read through quite a few threads but still have a couple of questions.

This is the sub I'm looking at
http://outlet.crutchfield.com/p_1361...jl+audi&tp=111

These speakers for the front doors
http://outlet.crutchfield.com/p_065S...ures_and_specs

Also thinking about putting a couple of 2-ways in the rear enclosures, but haven't decided on this yet.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to amps. What size amp would I need in order to reach the potential of these speakers and sub? Would I need 2 amps? One for the speakers and 1 for the sub? I have a pioneer x920bt navi. Would powering the front doors speakers from this be sufficient?

Thanks in advance

Congrats on your new purchase!

Well that sub requires 750watts, there will be many people on here to give you more help, I'd recommend the JL HD750/1 amp for the sub (but many will tell you otherwise) I have this amp it is amazing! The Boston speakers are really good too, I'd just run the two door speakers off an amp, and then run the rears (behind the seats) off the Head-unit.

i have a jl 10w3 and wow it produces alot of bass when i want it too its powered by a 350/1 jl amp and for the front i have jl components and jl seprates in the rear powered by a 65/4 jl amp. and my system has a great balance. i can turn the bass up so it rattles everything in my car(not my style) or i can have it where the quality of sound is amazing. im actually a boston fan but happen to get some great deals on new jl audio euquipment.

Thanks for the suggestions. After some thought I think the Sub I was looking at is probably more bass than I like. I'm downgrading to the JL 10w3. Would i 500 watt amp be sufficient. I guess my question really is what specs do you look at to pair a speaker with an amp?

Thanks for replies. I started googling and researching and I think I've figured out how most of this works. Basically you want the RMS rating of your amp to match (or slightly exceed) the RMS of your speaker. Correct?

One more question. From my understanding with a low ohms of 4 on a sub its best to use a 2 channel amp and bridge it? If this is the case should I get a 4 channel amp so i can power the components from the other 2 channels? Or should i get 2 2-channel amps? Or does it matter either way??

thanks for help. Trying not to ask questions that i'm sure get repeated a lot. But i have learned a lot in my research!

I think most people will tell you to get two amps...one for the fronts and and one for the sub...my system is below...and even though i have a 5 channel amp powering all speakers (jumped the gun on the amp before proper research - otherwise i probably would have picked up two amps)...i actually turned off the rears...the rears just muddy up the sound...sounds much more clear / accurate when only the fronts...

pioneer avh-p4200dvd - HU
diamond audio d363.5 components - fronts
diamond audio d161.5 coaxial - rears
soundstream rub5.800 - amp
infinity reference 1060w - sub
