Angry Bose amp TSB rejected...

hey guys,

I'm having issues getting this TSB 03-086 and TSB 03-087 done (replacing the crappy bose amplifier). its being refused

so i'm in canada, and I bought the 2003 car used 2 years ago. I tried to get this done at a dealership and they said this is not in their system to be done.

I've checked my amp and it is the bad amp CD400. but the dealer refuses to do it and told me to call nissan customer line.
after telling them my story and waiting for a week, they come back and say that the TSBs are issued in USA and does not apply to Canada.....

i think thats ********, US and CA cars are both the same with the same faulty part number.

the amp is $300

i've asked for the customer line's manager...

did anyone else have this problem?

thanks

1) Your car is out of warranty. If you're willing to pay for it, I'm sure they'd be willing to do it if it is applicable to your car. (i.e. your VIN or production date may exclude you)

2) A TSB is only a set of instructions to the dealer on how to solve a particular problem. It is NOT a recall. It is not mandatory in any way shape or form. It doesn't fix a safety issue that would force a recall on an out of warranty car.

Welcome. Recently read a Canada member cautioning about intakes voiding warranty. Now a Canada member saying Nissan refuses to fix audio system. US members are not up on Canada rules. Canada stuff? Ask in the regional forum.

Isn't Nissan North America over Canada too? It's not Nissan USA.

The same basic rules should apply. Keep in mind that there are some federal requirements in place in the US that probably don't affect Canada. Not everything that goes here, also goes for CN cars.

thanks for the reply guys,

i also find it weird that Nissan NORTH AMERICA does not cover Canada, strangely inconvenient.

i can understand if the warranty is over and they refuse to do anything for free, but not a wear item like transmission or brakes.

They made a flaw in the beginning of production, the batches after didn't have the problem, and they still have these parts stocked, i checked. Because the previous owners couldn't hear the bad sound, now i have to suffer for it.. *facepalm*

its a customer satisfaction initiative,
"WHAT NISSAN WILL DO
To ensure satisfaction with your audio system, Nissan, in cooperation with Bose, has launched a Customer Satisfaction Initiative to replace the amplifier with one having an improved noise compensation feature that is more balanced with less noticeable change in the volume and bass"

so pretty clear to me that if i want it done they will do it for me... but nissan canada told me its US only... even though they have these parts in stock in toronto...

Some times if your vehicle is slightly out of warranty like a year or so they can "goodwill" a repair. Considering that you bought the car used and all ready out of factory warranty they won't bother helping especially if you did not buy it from them (not sure if you did). The reason why is they are only allowed to run a set amount of "goodwill" claims per quarter and they won't waist one on someone who isn't an original owner or bought it from them (loyal returning customers only).

Is the AMP turning on and off or just not working.
I had the same issue on my 03 bose amp and there was a DIY on here to fix it.
What happens is that one of the circuits was loose in the amp and you need to apply pressure on top for it to work. It has been working till now,.

the amp works, it just doesn't work well, as the TSB- 087 states,
the sound is not clear. I didn't notice this until I got in a G35, and wow, what a difference in the quality and clarity of the sound system.

from then i started searching high and low as to why mine doesn't sound the same.

I changed my speakers to alpine, that worked a little but still high pitched, then thought about sound proofing the car.
but i think its this amp thats messing things up as others have stated in other threads, it will make a big difference, or thats what i'm hoping.
