Default Magellan 1700 + Kenwood Installed

For the amount I spent I can't complain. I just got it setup 10 minutes ago and am exhausted, since I've been working on my friends Camaro all day before installing both of these haha.

It's the Magellan 1700 Nav and the KenWood Double Din DVD Player. I'm plan on replacing the OEM buttons with a black stripe and a carbon fiber Z, once I figure out the best materials to craft that out of.

Anyways onto the pics!

$100 for Magellan
$400 for Kenwood

I must recommend Crutchfield they gave me a $25 gift card for using a promo code and give you all adapters you need for install for FREE. I also had my item in less than 24 hours from when I ordered it.

how do you like the 1700 model? it's a little outdated now, and i was looking at the newer models with lifetime updates and free live traffic, but i read some surprisingly bad reviews.

I like it seems very accurate for my area and powers on in about a half second. I did make sure to update the maps before installing though. Magellan puts updates once a year I believe.

Looks nice. I like the “stock” appearance you achieve with this setup. You will like the Megellan.

Great job on the install.
Is that the Kenwood DDX418? I have been strongly considering that unit for the iPhone integration.

looks good, but did you get the 06+ radio bezel? it kinda looks like you got an 03-05. there is a different trim and install kit for 06+ dashes that will fit much better than the 03-05 kit...

Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed. The bezel looks way off, like there's a huge gap at the bottom.

The bottom wasn't all the way in and fits now. It is from the 06 sorry haha.

The head unit is great iPod integration is awesome only thing is the song will load immediately but the info is about 4 seconds after the audio. Doesn't bother me at all though it's awesome!

The only thing I do not like about this HU is the fact that you cannot use the rear USB for iPod audio/video (correct me if I am wrong...). But otherwise, this appears to be exactly what I want in a HU, and I have been unable to find anything with the same features anywhere near the price.

Again, good job, and good luck with the setup.

I really don't recall a a USB in the back of the Unit. Just a bunch of pre amps, rear view camera plug, and a composite video setup. The USB in front works great though along with the aux cord being underneath of it.

**The USB is in the bottom left corner of the unit. **

Is it the DDX418, or a different unit?
I dont mean to pry (or hijack your thread for that matter) im just wondering because I plan to buy it

This picture shows the back of the 418, and a USB cable (this might just be used for a bluetooth dongle or something)

USB is typically used for video/audio from a flash drive... might work with an ipod, but usually ipods have a dedicated line wire... looks as if the black circular port near the yellow av's would be the ipod input.
