Default aftermarket install to replace bose question

This question is from seeing Drew's post about his install.

He ordered from crutchfield, which supposedly sends you everything you need. Install kit, adapter etc...

However i got confused by this link for the separate kit he ordered.

http://www.autosoundgear.com/tek9.as...cific=jppniqg8

What is at the bottom of the page is what confuses me.

"To retain the Bose system, order part number NISAH4N - For NON-Bose, you will need the BHA7550 - All Applications will need the BAA9 Antenna Adapter."

First, what is that NISAH4N part number? Is that the adapter you need to connect the new HU to the dash wiring?

2nd

What is the BAA9 antenna?

Do i need some antenna that i dont know about?

So you peeps that installed aftermarket HU in place of the bose, id appreciate the help.

Thanks

Default Here's the answer... kinda

Spud,

After doing a lot of research tonight I found out that the NISAH4N part is necessary (maybe) if you are only replacing the BOSE Head Unit with an aftermarket HU, but keeping the BOSE speakers and amp(s?). Soundgate makes a similar device, but I have e-mailed them and the response that I got back was that I should be able to just connect the new HU to the factory wiring harness and have it work? I'm not too sure about that though. The BHA7550 Wiring Harness adapter looks like it allows you to directly connect the wires from the new HU to the factory harness. Not sure of the difference.

As far as the BAA9 Antenna Adapter, I have not taken my Z apart yet so I am not sure, but just by looking at the adapter I would say that the Antenna connector in the Z is not a standard size and therefore requires this adapter to connect to an aftermarket HU. Again, I am not sure... but that's what it looks like to me.

I'm kinda lost at this point. I just want to find out what I need so I can order it and install it. It's not doing me any good to stare at the Clarion HU in my garage. ;-)

Default Me too

Yeah, that is the way I feel. I already forked out enough money on the HU, I don't want to spend more money on speakers now. I will hopefully get a difinitive answer on what Head unit replacement interface I need today.

I'll definitely keep you as well as everyone else updated on my install.
