JL Stealthbox - get ready . . .

If you think you'd like it with W7s or W6s, ask your shop about swapping out the subs. It would no doubt cost extra. I did this with my shop once on a previous Stealthbox.
Keep in mind that the enclosure was specifically designed and tuned for W3s. W7s may not even fit in that enclosure.
If I get a Stealthbox, I'll stick with the W3s. The box was designed for the W3s and I'm sure that is a huge part of getting quality sound.
However, if I do a "roll your own" solution like the Nazar box, I'll probably get W6s while I'm spending all that money anyways

This was my thought. Different sub might require different enclosure volumes.
On that note, does anyone know if this Stealthbox is sealed or ported? I very much prefer the accurate punch of a sealed enclosure vs a ported enclosure.
Also, how will the two drivers be wired in the box? Will each driver have its own inputs on the back of the box? Or will the two drivers be wired together in either a parallel or series connection internally, resulting in a single input on the back of the box? Seems like independent wiring would be optimal due to the impedance issues resulting from wiring the drivers together.

I don't think the impendance would be an issue with JL amps considering RIPS.
From the e-mails I've gotten from Don at JL, the impedenace will be 4 ohms and he didn't mention the ability to wire the subs differently.
Leads me to believe there will only be one +/- set of connections on the outside of the stealthbox.

Do you think they will make it available to match the frost interior as well?
the O.Z. maybe.....
I let Don know about the 350Z coming with a Frost interior and here is his reply...........
Randy,
You know, it's a good thing I talk to people like you or I might never know
about all these little details. I'm going to have to research that Frost
interior color and see if I can match the carpet.
Production on this enclosure should begin by the middle of February, so
enclosures should be available everywhere by the end of February. But until
we actually get the first one off the line there are a hundred or so things
that can happen to delay it. Rest assured we're working hard to make sure
it's right and on time.
Thanks,
Don Vertrees

Wow... thanks for doing the research on that Randy. If they could match the frost interior I would buy one in a heartbeat.
Ordered one of these from a local shop the other day for
$550. Got a good price b/c I buy TOO MUCH from them. Was told the box would be in around the first of april. As far as the amps, mine are mounted in a custom rack under the carpet in the trunk. Will post pics and review of the box when the install is finished.

Hello,
I have been away from the forum for a while, with the cold weather in NE we have been jammed with Remote starters, A lot of long nites.
Being a JL dealer for the last 12 years I know for fact the stealth box will sound awesom. And I know it will be at the highest quality available. For those choosing to go with the JL stealth box please let me know If I can be of any help. If permited by the forums I would like to arrange for the proposed group buy for my350z forum members. I can find out what is the lowest price I can arrange for. As many of you know my pricing is... well let's leave it at that.
However for those of you who are interested in a WILD version of a subwoofer setup. We still have our version of 350Z strut tower enclosures. Which can be fitted with single 10" to all the way up to 3x10" molded faced enclosure... Did I mention We have now succesfully installed a 3x10W7 enclosure on a forum members vehicle. Not to mention you have the choice of using a 10w6v2 or even a 10w0 subwoofer. Our enclosure will also fit many other subwoofer brands, Like Alpine, Rockford and many others.
Don't forget you can still get our enclosures unfinished and have it painted by a body shop to match your car, Also we can still wrap the box with black vinyl and ship it to your door. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions and comments. As always Thanx for the my350.com for everything.

I'd be interested in a group buy on the JL. I like the JL design because it appears to leave a bit more room in the already limited room trunk. Only thing is, I can't tell from JL's pics, how the top and rear of their setup is finished.
All the radar detector comparisons have the capabilities of the 8500 and V1 as very close, the major difference is the arrows and price. The V1 is $399 direct, the 8500 can be bought for $275 from EverythingNissan and comes with remote display and carrying case.
