Default You guys with the Subs.....

that have them installed in the factory location in custom made boxes...Do you get any bad vibrations in-cabin? I am going to be getting a pre-made custom 12" Subwoofer Box that a local makes for Z's specifically. He makes them for 8",10",12" subs mainly. Sells them pretty decently priced too! I am going to be putting a Kicker CVT in it, and running about 500w to it. Do you guys get any bad vibrations from that wattage range in that location?

I had a JL 13w5 in the stock location and it sounded terrible. It also rattled like mad. Took that **** out and put it by the rear strut brace and it sounded 100x better with few rattles I had to track down.

This was with 750w.

tons of existing threads on it.. yes, it vibrates horrendously. I used it for a month then sold it.. it is TOO SMALL for a JL flat 13.. and the flange is really trhin to be holding it all up.. was crazy.... and its just a bad idea for a coupe.. other options sound far better.
if youre a conv, then its a bit different.. but is stil too small for a JL.. Nazars fiberglass versions are more costly, but are the proper size.. the plastic does vibrate violently tho.. it can be fixed but at what length do you want to get into all that?

I certanly didnt.

I switched to a flat floor spare tire well box for the flat 13 and its solid as hell.

Previous owner did mine, it wasn't that box but it was in an actual box mounted in that area. If you search you will see most people have not had good results with mounting in that area, with a few different kind of boxes.

There has been a couple with decent results though, so post up yours.

If you have a box built for that hole and the sub fires into the floor or fires up , then you will have crazy rattles . If you have a box built that fits the hole and the sub fires into the cabin then it sounds much better with no or limited rattles .
