Default 08 OEM non-bose head unit issue

My HU suddenly died on me for no apparent reason.

The center LCD no longer lights up or displays time, but the buttons will still light up when the headlights are turned on. I checked both the Radio and Mirror fuse behind the dash kick panel, but both of them appear OK. There are no other electrical issues; Mirrors, gauges, interior lights are all operational.

Wanted to see if anyone had encountered a similar issue, or what else I should check, before I physically pull the HU out of the dash.

It's a non-bose single-disc Base model head unit, modified with an AUX port by Factory Radio Service.

Your car has an OEM Clarion HU. I would send email to Clarion support. Give them as many details as you can (car model and VIN, a thorough problem description (similar to what you posted here).

I’m not sure if the non-factory AUX add-on is a factor, but Clarion may blame the problem on Factory Radio Service.

Please let us know how this turns out.

Just look for a used one. I sold the one from my '08 for $35.

Does anyone have info on the wiring connections on this HU? Most specifically, although not installed with a sub, is there a subwoofer connection?

Not much on the '08, but this '06 diagram might answer your question:
