What's a good sound system?
Like I said, here's some more pics since I just changed my oil&filter and cleaned my Z. Now I'm waiting for this weekend so I can tint my windows, find a short antenna, and add a sound system (thinking of getting the Pioneer AVIC-X940BT head unit). Any suggestions of good speakers, subwoofers, and amps?

Don't know about you but I spend 1000 times more time inside my car than looking at it.. so an audio system is much more appreciated to me.
$3k is a fair amount to spend on a sound system and make it sound great. I suggest Focal k2p front speakers or JL zr650 those would set you back about $1k, whatever headunit that has the features you like and resolution you prefer, but honestly, if I could do my system again I'd skip the screen feature, it's rearly used and you could save quite a bit.. thats' about $1k max. Get a 5 channel amp such as the HD900/1 and a great sounding sub 12w6v2 $600
You're looking at $3,500 with the above equipment but I'm sure you could knock off at least $500 talking to a sales rep at any given store.
In short:
Headunit
Focal K2P (front speakers)
HD900/1 (amp)
12w6v2 (sub)
Box
Powerkit
Install yourself (if you can, save $1k)

I've heard JL was good, but still doing my research. Gonna check em when I have the time. Thanks for your input rtiid22! I agree, I'd spend more time driving and blasting music then just sit around looking at my car lol My friend is mechanic so I hope he can help me install the system free of charge.
But yeah, my priorities are probably different from others. Tint first, then soundsystem. Maybe rims and HIDs later on (no rush for these two). That's all I really care for actually lol

I forgot to mention skipping the rear speakers is a great money saver and you could possibly skip on the 5 channel amp and get a 4 channel amp, bridging the rear but that'll probably net you less power for the sub but save you a couple hundred dollars

I went to walmart and picked up 4 of their pioneer door speakers. If you dont plan on putting an amp on your door speakers these will do. They will cost $80 for all four and you will probably never blow them if you tune your system right. As far as sub and amp combo JL is one of the best. however I have a kicker 250.1 pushing 2 10" kicker comps. not to loud outside the car but inside it sounds great.
I have had loud systems
1) 1200.1 kicker amp pushing 2 12"L7's (this was stupid loud and ended up blowing)
2) 1000.1 Hifonics amp pushing 1 12" Kicker cvx (Amp blew and blew half of the voice coils on my sub)
3) 200.2 kicker amp pushing 2 10" JL W0's (best system I ever had, sold it 8yrs ago to get bigger system. the kid I sold it to still has it)
Moral of the story super loud heavy subs are not the way to go. keep it simple and it will last forever and you will be satisfied in the long run.

A sound system all depends on you. what you like to listen to. I have BA pro60se for mids and highs with modified baffles behind them (helps with the rattling and sound projection), and a single jl 10w3 in a box in the stock location . i'm a bit of an old school when it comes to amps i have a ppi pc2300 for the sub, and a pc4100 for my mids and highs. i listen to mostly rock and rap. go to your local shop and ask quesions. i've got about 2k invested found the amps on e-bay used and the componets were $600 new off e-bay, and sonixelectronics for the sub.
