Question Lights Dimming

Hey y'all, I have a 10W7 with a 500/1 amp and just recently I've noticed that my lights dim when the beat hits. I have a 1 farad cap and changed the fuses. I have 8 gauge wiring with the amp, do I need to change them to a 4 gauge, or is the problem unrelated? Thanks in advance!

I would definitely switch to 4 gauge for the amp and cap.

The problem is not your wire, I have 4 gauge from battery to amp; as well, I have a 1.5 farad cap. The problem is the alternator, not the install. Whatch your volt meter on the dash when the bass hits, if it drops, you need a new alternator. Also you might try using a yellow top battery. The Z has a good alternator, but it could be better, especially if you play music with a lot of low bass.

Man oh man, you guys would've died in a 300zx. At least the 350 has like a 120a Alternator, the best I could find on the 300 was the 85a 96 Twin Turbo Alt. . .

on a side note you should upgrade your wire to 4 ga. it is strongly recommended for the JL amps to use 4 ga.
