I've seen people post up their system after the fact and get grilled by the knowledgeable people on this forum. Here's what I'm thinking about doing, let me know if you think you could do better for similar coins.

Strip the entire bose system.

Front:

• Alpine UTE-62BT Headunit -- $170
• Focal K2 Power 165KR2 Components -- $600 (40% off on Crutchfield atm)
• Focal FPP 2100 -- $230
• Wicked CAS Pods -- $230

Note: only upgrading the front door speakers, will leave the rears out per advice from guys in other threads that have very high end systems.

Back:

• Zenclosures 2-10" under strut bar box - $100
• Two JL 10w1v2 - Free
• Alpine MRP-M500 Amp - Free

Total Price: $1330 + wires

System Goals: SQ over SPL.

 

Looks good, I wouldn't invest that much on a car stereo system myself, especially in a noisy sports car...

I would go with some basic upgraded speakers all around and your amp-subs, new head unit and call it a day... Would also build a custom box for the exact specification for your JL subs... I would also just use 1 sub, 2 is over kill and just adds weight. I had 2 subs also and ended up just using the 1, no regrets.

Whatever you do im sure you will be happy about junking all the oem set-up...

I like the components you are choosing. You are going to really like the Focal speakers. In fact, the Focals will deliver very good bass. Mine were good enough that I decided not to install a SubW.
