I have a stand-alone screen in the cubby of my 2003. Would it be possible to display OBD info from the car onto the screen?? If so how can I do it?? Would love to know if this is possible.
IDK if it's possible to get info on any basic screen, but there are many units that can do that and be adapted to work. I know the Greddy infometer fits in there, I have the nDash myself.
If you can hook up your phone (or any Android device) to the screen you can download a selection of bluetooth OBDII apps that'll display the info in real time. My preferred app is Torque, but there are many others.
It depends on your stand alone screen and whether it has a video input, mirror capabilities, or has an OS like android. I've been debating on getting a cheap android tablet that has BT connectivity and downloading the torque pro app in order for it to sync with my BT OBDII plug-in device. Currently, I have torque on my phone and it works fine, but it would be nice to have a dedicated tablet to see the gauges.
I run a cheap Android head unit in my boxster. It was $130 when I ordered it back in 2017. It allows me to show gauges via the Torque app but also it runs full Android Auto without issues. I provide data to it via phone hotspot. Now being 3 years old it is starting to show it's age in terms of slowing down and having an old version of Android, so I'll probably be upgrading it soon.
This is what I'm running, can read and clear codes, display OBDII data, and access up to 2 sensors and widebands as well. Currently running dual WB and MAP sensor.
Alternatively you could do something similar (and probably cheaper) with an Arduino board, however that's a lot more low level development with soldering, wiring, etc. and they don't have video output on-board so you'd have to setup a separate video output module
