New car cubby mods.
Hey All,
So i have just purchased an '03 350z and the first thing i want to change is the Sat Nav compartment.
It currently has the original Japanese Sat Nav which is useless and a single CD player underneath. Ideally, i would like to install a double din in replace of the single CD player but what could i do to the upper part where the Sat Nav is ???
I had seen a picture on facebook where somebody had incorporated a small garmin into it but would that be easy to do ? or is there any other suggestions ?
Thanks guys.

First, I moved this to a more appropriate forum. Search through the audio video forum and you'll find everything from full-on tablet installs to the relatively modest Garmin installs in place of the OEM factory nav. Over the 18 years since the Z33 was produced, there's been a lot of innovative a/v mods, depending on the user's skills and abilities. You asked about the Garmin in particular and you'll still need to rewire to the factory harness to provide power for a permanent mod. It's not what I would describe as easy, since you're removing the waterfall IP, removing the original Xanavi sat/nav and modding a harness. Finally, please refrain from using racist terms like "Jap" on this board- it's not appreciated or tolerated.
If you search the audio & video section of the tech forum you will find what you looking for. Not much as not been done to these cars and I remember seeing a lot of members installing the garmin unit in the cubby. Another popular option is the Workshop 12 kit.
