I have an '05 350Z with a Viper 5701 alarm installed. The remote start feature stopped working and while I was trying to pinpoint the problem I noticed that the car will start fine if the key is inserted in the ignition. In other words, simply inserting the key into the ignition and leaving it in the LOCK position allows the car to start flawlessly. If I then simply remove the key leaving the ignition in the LOCK position the car will not start.

So, simply having the key inserted in the ignition enables the remote start to work. Does anyone have an idea of what might be going on here?

i wouldnt touch an alarm or remote start personally due to risk of making it worse. i would see how much cartoys or some other big box place would charge to look at it
