Exclamation Farenheit T-7001 Woes!

Oh Geeze!
I just bought a Farenheit T-7001 after reading all of the posts on this forum to buy one and now am in bad shape!
I bought the T-7001 MHR, and by NO MEANS does it into the center console monitor area as is! (From the front)

It is about 3/4" too wide on both sides!
I just bought from an eBay vendor for $205,plus $8 shipping (brand new). Sad, because I looks like it would be a great monitor otherwise!
I really hope that they will take it back! (Anyone interested in buying it to try a custom install job?). The edges line up perfectly with the opening, but the plastic edge would be hidden.

I just may try installing from the inside, but over all , I believe that if you buy the T-7001MHR and try to fit it into the center console, you will have a job on your hands.. Any Ideas?

I would rather not cut the back out of the console, then fit it in from the inside, using the headrest bracket to secure the monitor. Then again, it may run up against the door hinge mechanism?
I never had the console removed yet, so I am not sure....

There are all these posts here that the T-7001 supposed to fit perfectly?

There are no regular T-7001's for sale anymore.
I believe that they are discontinued? I looked high and low.
Farenheit seems to have an unmotivated sales team that will not return any questions to buy their products. At least that has been my experience for the last few weeks.

Do you have a 2004 Z? Nissan changed the Nav center console area so these 7 inches no longer fit well. You need to retrofit the 2003 nav lid if you want it to fit.

I have the same Farenheit 7.1 in my 2003. You have to remove the dash/consol and remove the small housing, the the screen will fit perfectly. Good Luck!

Question How to fasten the 7001 monitor?

Thanks zYouLater,
You are so right!
--Duh, for me not taking the dash out first! I think that the metal bracket will be OK to leave out of there.
One question I have is how did you fasten the 7001 monitor in the retro-fitted space, once you took the metal bracket out?
I am thinking that double-sided tape may not last permanantly, and screws may damage the monitor.
One other question is: Where did you run the 12V power wire from the monitor to the 350Z?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

BTW, I have the 2003 Enthusiast model, not the 2004.

I used 3m double sided tape and I really think it is in going no where! As for power, I used a volt meter to test the wires untill I found a hot wire to use. Also if you search to Audio video threadsd you will see a couple of installs with great pics and step by step. This is what I used when I did my install. Hope it works out, I'm sure it will

If you want to use the remote for the monitor I dont think the tape will work. They used phillips head srews.

Uh, I used tape, no problems. I don't think the monitor is moving, and even if it somehow does, I'll just retape it. It's been about 16 months so far.

As for the remote, you can either drill a hole in the console frame so that the IR sensor can see through, or you can use a fiber optic cable like I did and re route things.

Removing the metal bracket does no harm.

I did not drill holes. Remote will work fine if you hold it at a slight angle up close. The sensor will still pick up the remote.

I'm not sure about the 2004 models. I thought I read some where that the access door is differant on that model.
