internal dvd rom drive
well, I'm almost done with my system including the following:
Custom Box built into spare tire cavity, false floor
Pioneer Premier Rev speakers (mids and highs)
1 Pioneer 12" W-6 with "Z" fiberglass cutout(Liteglow Orange neon)
Kenwood DD7015 head unit
1 JL E4300 am for mids and highs
1 JL Slash 500/1 for sub
1 7.2' Lilliput tft monitor
1 Shuttle XPC 1.8 ghz 5.1 surround
Wireless keyboard
gyro wireless mouse
Wireless internet
2 Stinger capacitors
1 dc converter
Tons of dynamat.
Now, the question I have is this:
I've cut a hole in the back on my computer case to feed the power and ide cables up to the small compartment above the stock blose 10". A pseudo drive bay has been made out of wood and carpet to hold the internal dvd rom drive, and I was wondering if anyone has done something like this before. Our cars ride hard so I'm a little nervous about skipping/scratching discs.

I HEAR, dont quote me, that laptop DVD drives are better about that. also hear slot load drives are also better. I personally think Id run off HD alone when in the city, if you got a while on a nice somewhat smooth freeway, go for the DVD.
best bet either way... run a test for a week or 2, play the same garbage DVD, and check it at the end of each drive for signs of damage.
