I purchased mine for $1999 plus tax and install was right around where you are saying. Its a great unit and I am glad I purchased it. I use the Nav on a constant basis when I have to go to new clients. The shop that installed it took care of the problem with it not playing DVD's while in drive without me even asking them, and the other thing I found out is that you would have to be in park to search for a route or address, you couldn't be in motion, and they also took care of that. I am not sure for the reasoning on that one, but thats what they told me. Just tell the place you go to that you want it installed that way. I haven't heard of that many people who were denied installing it that way. If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me.

I went thru that deliberation myself and they are both fantastic head units and you will not be dissapointed with either one.
I have the 2404 in my Z and I'm installing the avn 2454 in my Altima this weekend.
It just depends on what you need/want and what you can afford.
I got the avx 2404 for $1100 and the avn 2454 for $1800.
I already have the factory nav in the Z and I needed nav in the Altima.
The Kenwood has a nav add on that cost an exta $900 + and it takes up the same space as the Z factory nav dvd.
The avx 2404 has Dolby 5.1 and the Kenwood has an add on for that.
The 2404 has lots of nice stuff but a 5.8 screen vs the 6.5 for the Kenwood.

I will post pics of the Z tomorrow and the Altima this weekend.

The resolution on the avx 2404 is the same as the avn 2454
280,800 400x200.
The avx 2494 is VGA 1,152,000 800x480.

What about the interactive graphics, such as DSP, EQ, Sound Field setting , etc.

BTW, that looks nice as **** on your Z!

Does the 2454 have sattelite radio? That is one feature of the Kenwood that attracts me to it.

No it doesn't. I really wasn't interested in sat radio, but using a fm modulator you can add one. Eclipse is supposed to be making an add on for it next year.
